1. What is Targeted Traffic?

Targeted website traffic refers to the way in which visitors arrive at a website, as well as the visitors themselves. The concept is that the amount of purchases made in relation to the number of visitors to a site selling a product or some other stuff will be higher if people who visit the website have entered because a marketing element has sparked a specific interest in the website's offering. This is different from website traffic arriving from random sources where a visitor sees the website but has little or no interest in the content. The term "targeted website traffic" is primarily used by companies that have an Internet marketing infrastructure in place to attempt to drive traffic to a separate website.

There are many ways for a person to arrive at a particular website. One way is known as organic website traffic. This is when a person searches the Internet for information through a search engine. By clicking on the website and visiting, the user is expressing an interest in the site, but the information about the products and services on the site are not completely understood, leading to an organic, exploratory browsing experience. However nowadays we can drive large amount of Targeted Traffic from FaceBook, Bing, Adwords and from other advertising networks. We will discuss how you can drive Targeted Traffic from FaceBook.

By bidding on the right search term, you can have an ad to be shown to only those people who are really interested and also desperate to get the product. You only need to pay for an ad when someone clicks on it when he/she visits your landing page. This is how you need to run your campaign and make use of your Advertising Dollars.

Bing Ads vs. Google Adwords

With more than 70% internet searches by users, Google holds the top position in search engine by having maximum number of searches around the world. That's why if you want to reach maximum number of people, then I recommend you to go for Google. I will tell you how to do that here.

Bing and Yahoo just have only 30% of internet searches compared to Google. If you are not advertising on Bing and Yahoo then probably you are losing about 30% of your sales.

That's not the only reason you should go for Bing Ads but there are also less number of people who advertise on Bind Ads than Google Adwords, so the competition and the amount to be spent on the ads become much lower than Google Adwords. Also, in Bing there’s lot of quality audience you can target with lower amount at the same time making the most of your advertising dollar.

But from a lot of research, it has been seen that cost per click on Bing is 70% lower than when advertising using adwords.

Setting up Your Bing Ads Account

Step 2: Setup your Bing Ads

Click Here to Visit the Bing Ads Singup page and then click on the Sing up button at the upper right corner of the page.

If you don't have an account, then you need to create a microsoft account on the next page in order to use Bing Advertising network.

Step 3: Import or Create Your First Campaign and Your First Ad

So, on the very next page you will be given two options.

. Import your Google Adwords Campaign. If you are already using Google Adwords, then you can easily import all you campaigns from Adwords to Bing Ads. Just follow the instruction provided on the page

So this guide has assumed that you don't have any campaign so we will help you how to make a perfect campaign from the beginning.

After clicking on "create a new campaign" you will be taken to a page where you can start your very first Ad campaign by entering your first Ad details:

Bing Ads has some great tips here on the characteristics of a good pay per click ad.

Here's the summary!

Include the search keywords which your clients are using in your ads.

Explain why your product is unique as compared to that of others.

Use the language in your ad which your customers are looking for instead of writing the things in your own language.

Address your customers directly by using words like you and yours.

Always be specific with the product you are selling to your customers. Be truthful.

And, at the end don’t forget to include a call to action.

I recently did a series a products showing how I setup and market my client's Construction site. Here are the steps I followed to set up a Bing Ad for his site. You can do the same to get a great result.

My client’s potential customers used to search on keywords like Best Builder in India, Best Builder in USA, and Cheap Builders in Newyork etc. I will show you how to find the keywords. Check out below.

Keeping in mind that I want to mix and try those keywords with client's ads, this is the first ad I came up with:

Check that I have used the keywords like Builder in USA, Cheap and best mixed throughout the ad's headline and description. I also have the keyword Builder in URL. Since Bing ads gives you flexibility of putting any keyword related to your Landing Page, you can add different URL and send traffic to different Landing Page.

NOTE: Always try to keep your URL related to your Landing Page else Bing can ban your account. For Ex: If your site is about Real estate then you can keep something like

"www.realestatebusiness.com" or "www.buyrealestate.com" not "www.constructionestate" etc.

Step 4: Pick the Keywords you want your ads to show for

The very next task after creating your ad is to decide or choose when to show your ad to your customers. Since my client was trying to find some customers, who wanted their homes to be built, I wanted an ad for his

website to show to potential customers who were searching on Bing or Yahoo which are related to his service.

I am going to use the bing Ads Keyword Research Tool on the same page where I created my ad, to get some ideas for the keywords which I can use to advertise.

For my client's site I am going to research on the keywords just like Best Builders in Newyork and will get an idea on other keywords and their estimate amount of searches each month. Bing Research tool helps you to get an exact idea on which all keywords to use and which not.

As you can see Best Builders in USA and Cheap Builders in USA are most searched keywords among all the other related keywords. If I would have found some other keyword having more search volume then would back and adjust my ad with new keywords.

Step 5: Choose Your Match Type

To the right of the Keyword suggestion box, there is a small box that shows “Broad”, “Phrase”, “Exact” and “Content”.

These boxes determine what kind of ads to be shown to the users. Here's what each option meant to be when checked:

Broad

My ad will show in the Bing and Yahoo search engine whenever user desperately searches about the keyword or any related keyword that my ad is associated with it.

Example:

If I select "broad" for the keyword Best Builders in USA then ads will be shown when user searches about Best Builders in USA in Bing and Yahoo search engine. Suppose if somebody searches Builders in USA then also there's 90% probability of showing my ads to that keyword since it is related to my keyword "Best Builders in USA".

Phrase

Your ad will show when users type in any search term that includes the keywords "Best Builders in USA" in that exact order.

For Example:

Your ad will be shown to those users who search the keyword in order "Best Builders in USA". The ad will not be shown to those users who search the keyword like "USA Best Builders", "Builders Best in USA" or any other query that does not include the promoted keyword.

Exact

Your ad will show only when people type in the exact search term (plural or singular) with no other words.

For Example:

If your exact search was about Best Builders in the USA then your ad will be shown only when someone searches as Best Builders in the USA or Best Builder in the USA. Your ad will not be shown to users who type as Find Best Builders in USA or Best Builders in USA cheap or any other keywords.

Content

Your Ads will be shown on partner’s sites such as Facebook, Monster,

CNBC, Viacom and others. This could be either in Banner ads or in search engine of those sites.

The Content Network is complicated than normal search ads. So far for all my sites I have unselected these Content ads and have focused on search Ads. If you want to know more about it..Then Click Here

Step 6: Set your Bids for Ads

If want Bing and Yahoo search engine to show ads to all those keywords which I listed above then I will select all of them and then click the add button at the bottom to add them all to my campaign.

Once I add them I get to see a page like this:

Step 7: Choose Your Campaign Name, Budget, and Location Targeting

This shows my keywords, the match type, and how much Bing asks to bid for that keyword and match type. As you can see, I would like to keep least bid amount for Broad match searches and the most for exact searches.

This is because if someone searches in "Best Builders in the USA" then they are more likely to click/Convert to my site. This is because I have used the exact matched keyword in my ad also. If someone is searching as "Best Builders" I am not sure if they are looking for a builder in USA or somewhere else. Hence I don't want to pay to these type of keywords.

To keep things better and good, I usually keep the things as it is. I don’t change the things at the very beginning. Bing gives me a complete report about my ads being performed. So, after the report I can change the things. I can see which keywords are performing well and which are not. Those keywords which are not performing well can be removed and also change some Budget settings.

Campaign Name

Once you get to know everything with Bing Ads, you may run multiple campaigns, which might be advertising different products or services. Because of this, you want to give your campaign a name so that you can easily identify which product or service is performing well.

I have named Builders as my campaign name since I need to advertise a keyword "Best Builders in the USA".

Daily Bing Advertising Budget

Your daily budget is going to depend on how competitive your keyword is and where you are targeting. My keyword "Best Builders in USA" is competitive since I am trying to focus on whole of the USA. Hence, my budget would be around 60-100$ per day.

To get started I usually set my budget to 10$ per day.

NOTE: Always try to test your ads with small budget for first 3-4 days only then you will get to know which keywords are performing well and which are not. If keywords not performing good even after good Cost per Click cost then remove those keywords from your campaign and go on with only those which are performing good.

Step 8: Finalize Your Campaign Settings

Location Targeting

By using the location targeting option, you can set your ads to the targeted location according to your product or service you are offering. If suppose your providing services only to USA users then you can set USA in the Target Location. No other users in the world will see your ad except USA users.

For Example:

Since people of USA are searching for Builders in their country then people from this country only will wish to see this ad when they search in Bing or Yahoo search engines.

There are many different options on the last screen, however for now there are two to pay attention to. Those are your default bids, and ad distribution.

Set Bids

If you do not choose particular bid for each keyword, then Bing Ads will use the amount that you set here as the default bid.

As I discussed I don’t recommend the use of content ads that’s why I always set 0 Dollars. For the search $0.30 is a good middle ground of the suggested individual keyword bids Bing gave me in step 6. How high or low you set your search market bid is going to depend on the competitiveness of your market.

Ad Distribution

This is where you can set your ads to run on the search network, the content network or both at the same time. As of now I am setting my ads to run only through search network, and I am going to unselect the content network.

Extra Settings

There are many other Advanced setting options including the ability to set date and time to run your ad according to your convenience, targeting particular gender and you can target types of devices in which your ad can show.

To make it successful, come back to those settings once you had a campaign run and gather some extra information and add it in those targeted options to make it successful.

Step 9: Enter your credit/debit card details to make your ads to run

Once you add your credit/debit card details, you are ready to run your very first Ad Campaign and can track all the performance of your campaign.

Step 10: How To Optimize Your Campaign

There are actually two primary things that you need to know to optimize your Bing ads campaign, which can create some extra ads and that might add negative keywords into your campaign.

Creating Additional Ads

You want your ads to generate good quality and as much relevant as possible clicks to your site, within your Fixed budget. Usually you can expect a good click through rate on your ads in the range between 1-3% for top positioned keyword.

What does 1-3% click means?

This means that for every 1000 times a keyword gets searched, your ad is getting clicked in between 10-30 times.

NOTE: Let me tell you a secret method you can do to increase your click through rate on your ads, that is to create multiple ads with slight or some variation. When you have multiple ads, Bing will rotate your ads automatically by looking which ad results in the highest click through rate.

You can delete those ads which have low click through rates. This way you can continuously improve those ads which have high click through rates. Creating new ads is easy and improving its performance will become easier for you from now.

Adding Negative Keywords to Your Campaign

If you have studied my ebook then at step 5 you might have known that I have marked on "Broad" as my match while choosing the keywords for which I want my ads to be shown. This means that my ads may be shown on some relevant keywords which I choose. It also means that my ads are likely to be shown on some irrelevant keyword too.

The keyword section of the main ads page, allows me to see all the search terms my ads are showing for. Here also I can turn off my ads for some keywords where I don’t want my ads to be shown for, by adding them as negative keywords.

Then you will get a list as shown above, where you can add your negative keywords.

1. How to Use FaceBook Ads?

Important Elements of Facebook Ads

1. Target the Right Audience Before you meet with the design team to develop your ad concept, think of the people you want to attract with your content. Over a million people log in to Facebook every day and no matter how much might be your Ads Budget but your ad will not reach everyone. Thus, it's important to create Appropriate Audience.

Thankfully, Facebook makes it easy for brands to find a targeted audience by providing useful information about page visitors with the Insights tool. Using the network’s analytics, you can find out the distribution of audience demographics in categories like gender, age group, and geographical location. Take advantage of these categories and target particular people with particular ad. For example, if you have grocery shop and you should target your local people with the ad and spoken language in your local area and this how your ad will reach to exact people and it will help you reach your business targets.

2. Experiment with placement Facebook allows for different placements for your ads. You can choose for sponsored content to appear in the Right-Hand column of the main page or in the News feed or at the bottom of the page or you can choose all the three. Even you will given an option to make your ad to a particular platform like in Mobile or Desktop. Finally, you can experiment with the format of the ad: you can choose to put an image or a video. After given placement in News Feed or Right-Hand Column of the main page, You need to test your ad with a minimum budget, which ad gives you the best result, go with that placement. When it comes to choosing the platform, take a look at the main traffic source of your visitors: Is it from Desktop or Mobile? You need to look at

3. Be aware of Facebook’s ad policies Facebook provides extensive guidelines for advertisers on the network, and if you haven’t taken time to read their Policies then it would cost you later. Have a look at all their Ad policies. Facebook has explained in a great manner with proper images. Do read Guidelines before getting started. Make sure that your time doesn’t go in vain later. So, let’s discuss briefly about it. First of all, if you’re planning on using text in your image ads, remember that you are only allowed the have text up 20% of the picture. You should use FaceBook Grid Tool to look how much text you have in your image. This is very important step else your ad will be disapproved. Avoid misleading images in your ad. For example, if you think you can add a play button to your image to get more clicks then you are probably in danger. FaceBook likes us to be truthful to their customers. So, better be truthful with your ad else your will be disqualified to show your ad. Finally you need to what kind of people would click on your ad. If your ad restricts to age group of 25-30 then you cannot exceed than this or else you will be disapproved.

4. Creatives The creatives are the images we use to highlight your ads. Your images need to have a great effect, to stop people from ignoring your ads. You can even customize your images for the same ads depending on your target audience. When testing different images for your ads, you will see that headshots perform better than logos or any abstract images. Headshots of attractive women statistically perform much better than anything else. You can start experimenting with these kinds of images if it makes sense for your business. So, without wasting much time let’s see how to do that

Your ad will be displayed to people that are most likely to take that particular action. Let’s take a look at the available actions (notice that the actions are in fact the objectives):

Let’s assume that you have a site or a Landing Page and you want to drive traffic to it to sign up for a free trail or something like that then you can go for “ Send People to your Website”.

Then you should create an audience based on Target Location and Interests. Further choose your daily budget for the ads and then click on Show Advanced Options in the Budgeting and Pricing section.

You can see that by default the bidding is optimized for “Clicks to Website”, but if you click on the drop-down arrow, you can see other bidding options too.
