Informat ion SECOND SEMINAR ON ADAPTATION AND INTEGRATION OF PERMANENT IMMIGRANTS 19-21 November 1975, Palais des Nations, Geneva The subjects of the session were as follows: I. Migration of family units and family 2. Problems confronting migrants returning to reunion ; their country; (to be discussed in Commissions) 3. Modalities of implementation of the recom- mendations of the Seminar on Adaptation and Integration of Permanent Immigrants. (to be discussed in Plenary Session) The official languages were: English, French and Spanish. The following general working papers were prepared by experts provided by governments or international organizations. For Commission 1. W. A. DUMON, Belgium: Family migration and family reunion ; T. STARK, ICMC: Views of non-governmental organizations on family migration. For Commission 2. H. PEKIN, Turkey: Placement, assistance to returning migrants and other types of assis- tance; 0. CABEZAS MORO and I. CASES MENDEZ, Spain: The relation between migration policy and economic development and the promotion of new employment possibilities for returnees (foreign investment and migrant remittances) ; G. ABETE, Italy: Vocational training courses for returning migrants before their departure from the country of immigration and after their arrival in the country of origin. Next to these information papers (about 25) submitted by governments, international orga- nizations - ILO, ECE,OECD, E.E.c., and the Council of Europe - papers were submitted by non-governmental organizations. Special mention deserves the contribution of the Inter- national Social Service and the European Trade Union Confederation. A final report will be published in the first months of 1976 in a trilingual volume of International Migration. In the year of the 25th anniversary of the Intergovernmental Committee for European Migrufion (ICEM) - 1976 - a third symposium of ICEM will be held at Geneva, this at the proposal of the Belgian participants of the second seminar in 1975. Furthermore is pro- posed to extend the composition of the working groups for the third seminar, and for the re- marks, and for the general conclusions. G. B. 217
