Welcome to Worship

Welcome to WorshipBrownstown Church of ChristExodus 20:4-6 "You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, but showing love to a thousand [generations] of those who love me and keep my commandments. Offertory Proverbs 11:24-25 (MSG) 24 The world of the generous gets larger and larger; the world of the stingy gets smaller and smaller. 25 The one who blesses others is abundantly blessed; those who help others are helped.

CommunionOn the night when he was betrayed, the Lord Jesus took some bread and gave thanks to God for it. Then he broke it in pieces and said, This is my body, which is given for you. Do this to remember me. In the same way, he took the cup of wine after supper, saying, This cup is the new covenant between God and his peoplean agreement confirmed with my blood. Do this to remember me as often as you drink it. For every time you eat this bread and drink this cup, you are announcing the Lords death until he comes again.Make No IdolsMake No IdolsThe dictionary offers this definition: an image used as an object of worship. Make No IdolsTo adore is to like very much or to love very deeply. But adore also means to adore worship with divine honorsMake No Idols The Second Commandment tells us HOW we worship.Make No Idols We think this Commandment is the most irrelevant of the 10 Commandments. Make No IdolsThis is the only commandment with both a threat and a promise. Make No IdolsYou cant escape that fact and it takes generations to crawl out from under that burden.. Make No IdolsGod promises to show his loyal love to a thousand generations.. Make No IdolsGod has promised to help pass along my values to the next generation. Make No IdolsI am fully committed to you and I expect you to be fully committed to me. Make No IdolsIf your religion never makes you or others uncomfortable, you better find out what happened to the cross youre supposed to be carrying.Make No IdolsI Must Give God the Right to be God in My Life Whether I Like It or Not. Make No IdolsI Must Not Judge God by His Ability to Fulfill All My Desires.Make No IdolsGod doesnt owe you anything. Make No IdolsI Must Constantly Evaluate My Priorities in Light of Matthew 6:33.Make No IdolsWhen I put God first all these things will be given to me. Make No IdolsDo you know what you call a person who puts all these things ahead of God? You call that person an idolater! Make No IdolsMost of them are simply good things that have taken over the controlling interest in our lives. Make No IdolsWhen ends become means and when things become more important than people. Make No IdolsThe Christian life is a process of God breaking our idols one by one. Make No IdolsThe only thing God has promised us is Himself! Anything else is a bonus. Make No IdolsAnything good can become an idol if we give it more attention than we do God.Make No IdolsHappiness comes from a living relationship with Jesus Christ. Make No IdolsOr you can spend your life doing Gods will. And when you die, its not over. Life has just begun.t. Make No IdolsThe only lasting cure for idolatry is a fervent love for God. Go and ServeLord Jesus, I long to be perfectly whole. I want Thee forever to live in my soul. Break down every idol, cast out every foe. Now wash me and I shall be whiter than snow.
