Direct tripod mountA tripod mount exists at the bottem so there is no need for special tripod and 1/4 inch adapters.

It uses AA batteries you can change quickly.In case of low voltage you can recharge the camera via USB or change the conventionalAA batteries

No extra cables neededThe camera has a build in USB plug and a HDMI output. So it works immidiately with a computer or television.

Providing best usabilityThe FLIP needs only 7 buttons to run the hole menu. Thats a big advantage for unexperi-enced users.

Only important functionsThe FLIP provides the most reduced variety of video functions. It is reduced mostly to shot,play and delete.

No proper outdoor devicethere is no proper solution for outdoor flash units. they are not water/shockaproved or powerful without powerline connection

No wireless connectionflash units do not work entirelly wireless. at least it costs a lot of time and legwork to create a photoset.

A fragile connectiondue to the torsion forces around the hotshoe area , the hotshoe is the most likely part that collapse. Repairing is not possible

Confusing interfaceunreadable display, bad menu-structure and in the TTL mode the menu is useless and irri-tates the user.

You need adapters at allif you use your flash device in an unleashed mode you need adapters for a tripod.

we found 4 PCBsin every corner to control differ-ent electronic parts which are in different bodys of the device

trouble with the pivot joint without a pivot joint the flash would be more structurized and there would be no need for that much cables and PCBs

cables needed everywhereto connect every PCB and electronic function one meter of cable is build in the flash de-vice.which need a lot of space.

functions need extra parts but here we seperate parts like springs or bolds which are in no combination with body parts

we found 25 screwssometimes two or more screws are in use where one would work with a more logical part assembly.

outdoor aprovedthe structure of the flash unit is robust and can comped with the situations of outdoor envi-roment

the user strobistworks outside and creats stu-dio like photosets. therefore he needs professional equipment.

wireless connectionfor a better workflow on photosets the flash unit and its menu runs over the interface of the DSLR.

there must be a solution between a hotshoe flash and a studio flash...

the contour lineis following the way from the device itself to the way the lightflash goes. So the rounded squares and the circles have a strong reference to each other.

the massive safe frameAs a major part the aluminium safe frame has more tasks than just to look good. It safes the device from high drops, pro-vides area for ventilation and it gives the option to use ropes to arange it without a tripod

Tubes for structural parts.Besides that tubes are very solid structures, the flash unit works with flange parts to decrease the number of screws.

Assembly along one lineDue to the fact of rough outdoor situations it is assembled on one line to provide a strong structure and waterproofed contacts between the parts.
