Time slots on the air interface are a limited pole of resources to be used for:

– Paging and service request, using BCCH TS and an extra paging TS (exCH) when needed.

– Voice call setup, using SDCCH– Voice Call, using TCH– Data connation, using PDCH

Default TS configuration is TCH unless TS is reconfigured to one of the three other types: exCH, SDCCH, PDTCH.

Different rules for Different rules for different TSdifferent TS

TCH TS: is dimensioned based on the desired GoS and according to Erlang-B table. GoS for TCH is typically 2% to 5%.

SDCCH TS: is dimensioned based on the desired GoS and according to Erlang-B table. GoS for SDCCH is typically 0.1%.

PDCH TS: is dimensioned based on the desired average user data throughput.

ExCH: is configured if Paging load exceeds the capacity of the BCCH paging.

Filter cells from based on that statistics that shows a need for addition or removal of SDCCHs, PDCHs, and eCCH.For every site audit the existing TS configurations to find the appropriate TRX and TS to be used.Pass this information to BSS engineering to create a command file for every one of these sites.Perform all the steps every week. How long would it take and how accurate to cover 5000 cells?

How would the network be affected if not dimensioned properly and on periodic basis?

* Of the 4 pDTCH channels, 2 are fixed for GPRS and 2 are allocated to traffic as a priority.* Additional pDTCH channels will be added to TS1-3 on TDMA 0 and then only on TS4-7 on additional

tdmas as GPRS traffic demands dictate

Exceeds SDCCHs allowed by the ruleLess than SDCCHs allowed by the ruleDon't have SDCCHs defined

If SDCCH is not maintained periodically, wrong and unnecessary configurations could build overtime as shown in the sample audit belowA good example are the sites without sdcch defined and sites with lower or higher number of SDCCH resources defined. The numbers marked in red and yellow are undesired deviations.
