boom, me on the scissor li!t& Installing the main wall aluminum trussing system in Tom Cruise'shangar at %illion *ir aiation serices in 0urbank, Cali!ornia& * ro!essional rigger was hired byYonne 1on5ale5 to seci!y what we needed and to do the installation& /e installed the two smallerhanging trusses on the right and le!t side walls& Yonne and I decided that he would take too long to dothe larger main wall We decided to do it ourseles& When he came back to do the installation the ne(tday, we already had it done& /e then hoisted the signs in lace& We did the rest&

In @anuary 6--A, Yonne 1on5ales, ea )rg %ember and $%'s ersonal drier contacted meto isit a !acility in )ntario, Cali!ornia where she was haing a brand new .ord 7(cursion customi5edas a secial limousine !or Tom Cruise and 9atie /olmes& 9atie was regnant with uri and Tomwanted a new ehicle comlete with a baby seat !or the e(ected new arrial& Yonne urchased the

brand new 7(cursion !rom a .ord dealer 8anta %argarita .ord: using her secial Church discount asshe had urchased do5ens o! .ord roducts all oer the world !or the Church and had good connectionshigh u in .ord %otor Comany& Tom Cruise aid !or it, but she cut the deal !or him&

Yonne was at *merican Custom Coach at 363 & Bineyard *e, )ntario, C*, ;3A3& Thiswas a comany owned and run by a 0ra5ilian gentleman named Charlie %ello& This comany rimarily built custom ehicles and trailers !or law en!orcement and the emergency medical ro!ession& I belieeit is no longer in business& Charlie may hae gone back to 0ra5il, or has since moed to Dtah andstarted a comany there, as he told me he was lanning to do in %arch 6--A when I last saw him&

*t any rate, Yonne was, at the behest o! $%, getting this comany to build a custom limousine!or Tom Cruise& Tom already owned a .ord 7(cursion limousine custom built by 0ecker *utomotie$esign in )(nard, C*& I don't know how it came u e(actly, but $% !ound out that Tom wanted a"better" one now that 9atie was e(ecting and took on the task o! showing Tom how he could get ane(cellent roduct !or a sectacular rice and Yonne got ut onto making it haen& 8* tyicalscenario:

Well, Yonne got really oer her head on this one& Charlie in )ntario had no idea what he wasdoing and building such a ehicle was way out o! his league& Charlie con!ided in me that Yonne had ressured him into doing it when he initially tried to decline as he !elt he wasn't equied to roidesuch a high leel roduct&

/e was trying to build a customi5ed raised roo! and had seriously botched it& This is whenYonne called me and had me isit his !acilities in )ntario so that I might look at what he was doingand erhas gie him some guidance on how to get his roo! modi!ication disaster on the rails&

I insected the ehicle and told him what I !elt was incorrect and adised him on how to do it roerly& /e re>did the roo! based on my adice 8or so I thought at the time: and continued with his ro#ect&

*s the weeks went on, Yonne ket trying to get me !urther inoled in this ro#ect& he wouldask me to go by eery week or so to "check" on Charlie's rogress and to take hotos and send them toher& he would send these hotos and reorts on u to Laurisse and $% showing how the ro#ect wasdoing "e(cellently and on schedule and within budget"& The ro#ect was actually doing terribly and wasdragging on and oersending& he was !alsely reorting in !act&

I wanted nothing to do with the ro#ect& I could see that it was a guaranteed trainwreck ande(ressed my concerns to Yonne many times but she re!used to accet that reality& I did what I couldto kee my inolement as minimal as ossible&

0ut, Yonne managed to roe me in ery heaily towards the end o! the ro#ect around %arch6--A& he had been romising to $% and Laurisse all along that all was !ine and on>schedule and thatit was nearing comletion and beauti!ul and sectacular& I ket telling her that Charlie's work on it was

Tom Cruise, not a ea )rg %ember, butgetting inoled in cientology doing some basic courses: showed u& It was actually his resonsibilityto get this ehicle !or Tom, but Yonne was "showing him how it's done, ea )rg style, a la $%"& /ewas !reaked when he saw it& /e had no idea what to do& /e looked at Yonne !or a solution& he lookedat me and saw that I !elt it was a useless train wreck& he was between a rock and a hard lace& he had been reorting u all along how well the ro#ect was going& $% was now demanding to see thecomletet ehicle N)W so that he could delier it to Tom as a beauti!ul gem that he "took care o!" !orhim&

We ulled it out o! Charlie's lace and Yonne decided to take it to a lace in imi Balleyowned by a guy named @osh Billeigue& The comany was called Integrated Innoations at 6=A- hastaWay F 7, imi Balley, Cali!ornia ;=-A& This guy was a contact o! Yonne's& he had called him out toCharlie's to look at the disaster in the last !ew days and see i! he could hel& We were now driing itthere to somehow get him to "!i(" it& The stereo system and !ancy !latscreen TB was a mess& o was theleather uholstery& @osh in imi Balley had an in>house uholsterer and was a secialist in high endautomotie sound systems&

)n the way there, we 8@osh /arris driing the new rolling disaster, me in my ersonal .ord7(cursion and Yonne in one o! her church>owned ehicles: stoed to get gas& This was the Limo's!irst time in the sun& It was ainted black& Charlie's roo! modi!ication #ob started waring, buckling andcracking in the heat& eems he #ust smoothed eerything u there with gallons o! 0ondo with no!iberglass rein!orcement& It was a messG

Yonne chose to ignore it& he said that we could !i( it later and that no one would notice& Yeah,right&

It wasn't oer yet& I was woken u about 33 m by 4uss 0ellin, ea )rg %ember andCommanding )!!icer o! CT 8Church o! iritual Technology:& eems I was in big trouble with $%oer this 7(cursion Limo ro#ect& *s I was scrambling out o! bed trying to get dressed, I receied acoule hone calls !rom Laurisse& These were the kind o! calls where you can tell $% is right behindher telling her what to say& he told me that the 7(cursion was the biggest iece o! shit she and $% had7B74 seen& he told me to get down to L* to *I on the double& he told me that 4uss 0ellin would

was a wrecked ro#ect !rom the git>go and that Yonne was now caught out and I had been roed intoo& /e, rightly so, ointed out that I should hae re!used to work on it i! it was such a mess and that Ishould hae reorted it earlier on to Laurisse and $% so that it could be corrected& ounds good intheory, but things around $% aren't always that easy& 7secially when you hae someone like Yonnewho is a chronic liar, yet is !or some reason held in high !aor by $% and ery rotected&

o we get to *I& $% and Laurisse are out in the garage looking at this 7(cursion Limo& $% is!urious& It is a total iece o! cra and he sees that it is& Yonne and I both get a good solid screaming at&4uss 0ellin is gien the #ob to "handle it"& $% is really in a sot now& What does he tell Tom Cruise?/e's been showing Tom all the hotos and glowing reorts !rom YonneG /e decides to hae Tomcome oer to *I the ne(t day and see what a iece o! shit the ro#ect is& /e basically throws me andYonne under the bus and tells Tom how horrible we are& /e then tells Tom that he is ersonally nowtaking care o! it and is getting Tom a roer ehicle&

4uss 0ellin and his sta!! track down a used .ord 7(cursion Limo that was built by 0ecker*utomotie $esign& They get it si!!ed u real !ast oer a coule week eriod and it gets deliered toTom Cruise by $%& 8What the hell has Tom Cruise's limo got to do with L4/ Tech reseration???:

0ut I was still retty mi!!ed by all this& The iece o! cra 7(cursion was hidden awaycomletely out o! sight in the lowest leel o! the *I arking garage& It was #ust sitting there, destinedto molder and rot inde!initely& It had no urose anymore as a di!!erent 7(cursion had been urchasedto !ill the need&

It is now mid>%ay 6--A& I am a comletely useless iece o! shit in $%'s eyes& I need to dosomething& There is well oer +-,---&-- o! Tom Cruise's money sitting wasted in that iece o! cra7(cursion& That doesn't sit well with me&

o I contact Yonne and demand the keys to it& I go to L* and ick it u and drie it to 1ilman/ot rings& I ull it right in the middle o! the 1olden 7ra %ororool worksho&

I send the ne(t A months comletely tearing it aart and rebuilding it& I tear o!! Charlie'smessed u roo! and redo it roerly& I gut the interior and throw out ractically eerything& I startagain, !rom scratch, and build it right& *bout 6--- man>hours ersonally by me& I make it into acustom Limo like no other eer built&

$% doesn't know anything about what I am doing& Yonne knows though& he is heling me bygetting the money to ay !or all the materials !rom )din 2roductions 8Tom Cruise's comany:&)nce Yonne sees that it will now get done roerly, she reorts u on it to Laurisse and $%& /earoes o! what is being done but is not aying too much attention to to it as Tom Cruise does notknow about it and is hay with his other 7(cursion&

$% has one demand though& /e insists that the interior custom moldings be !abricated withCNC technology 8Comuter Numeric Control:& This is where you draw the actual ieces in =$ on acomuter and then they are cut out recisely by comuter controlled machines& I disagree as I am only building one o! these& CNC is great !or mass roduction, but a single ehicle is really #ust a rototyeand is more raidly built by hand& The quality and recision is indiscernible !rom CNC&

0ut I am !orced to get it all drawn on comuter as "$% knows best"& This adds a couleunnecessary weeks to the ro#ect&

I enlist the talents o! HC trom, a ea )rg %ember osted at 1olden 7ra 2roductions in theCinematograhy ecial 7!!ects Dnit& /e sends about a do5en hours under my suerision measuringthe interior o! the ehicle and drawing the trim ieces in =$& I then get other ea )rg members whowork in the ets and 2ros Construction $et& at 1olden 7ra 2roductions to hel me cut out the threedimensional molds and !abricate the lastic acuum>!ormed trim ieces& I obtain the hel o! Clark%orton, 2eter Cse5arik and hawn %orrison who all work in ets and 2ros&

I also hae the hel o! Walter Wilkens, who works in 2ros and is !amiliar with !iberglass andresins, to hel me redo the botched roo! modi!ication&

.rom 1olden 7ra 2roductions' 7states $iision, I get %ats %arkowic5, Chie! 7ngineer, to helme with some modi!ications and welding o! the steel !loor in order to lower it& I get seeral hundredman>hours assistance !rom 1ary Conley who works in the Carentry %ill& /e hels me with lots o!!ine cabinetry, custom burlwood eneer manu!acturing and construction o! custom ower seats& )therhel is gotten !rom 7rica *llcock who also works in the Carentry %ill and 7li5abeth $owswell who isthe custom ainter in the Carentry %ill&
