The Scholars for Excellence in Child Care program ensures that eligible child care professionals in the state of Oklahoma have an opportunity to attend a two-year college to further their education while earning a Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential, Certifi cate of Mastery, Director’s Certifi cate of Completion, and/or an associate degree in child development or early childhood education.

CDA Credential Coursework Choose three of the following:

CD 2023 Nutrition Health and Safety 3CD 2043 Parent and Community Relations 3CD 2053 Child Growth and Development 3CD 2063 Behavior and Guidance of Young Children 3

Credit Hours 9To receive the CDA Credential, an assessment process must be completed. The CDA Credential is awarded by the Council for Professional Recognition. The CDA/CCP Assessment Scholarship is available through the Scholars Program.

Certificate of Mastery Coursework Completion of the following:

Director’s Certificate of Completion * Certificate of Mastery and the following:

CMSC 1223 Business Application Software 3ECM 2123 Early Childhood Center Financial Planning & Management 3

Credit Hours 24* The Director’s Certificate of Completion is awarded by the Scholars Program and is for directors and assistant directors and assistant directors only.

Coursework for the CDA, Certificate of Mastery, and Director’s Certificate of Completion may be applied toward an associate degree in child development or early childhood education or for directors and assistant directors an associate of applied science in center management or administration where available.

Students in the RCC Early Care program have a new bachelor degree option with the University of Central Oklahoma and Northeastern State University. These agreements allow students completing an RCC A.A. degree in child development to transfer to UCO and pursue their B.S. degree in Family Life Education (Child Development Emphasis), and at NSU, Human & Family Sciences (Early Care option).
