Who is the SASDC?
• Founded in 2011, Non profit organisation supported by the United States Agency for
International Development (USAID)
• Corporate led through Membership model & driven to benefit Black suppliers (our
Certified suppliers are beneficiaries of mission outcomes).
• Our Service Solution is primarily focussed on driving value through:- Tailor-made support to members with the development of Enterprise Supplier Development (ESD)
Strategies that are fully aligned to supplier diversity best practice principles.
- Aligned demand-driven services that support the effective implementation of ESD strategies for delivering intended outcomes.
- Turnkey Capacity Building solutions for corporate members to drive their respective strategies while at the same time providing a facilitated service for the development of suppliers on their behalf.
- The provision of an integrated environment for monitoring and evaluating the economic impact of ESD strategy delivery from a micro (corporate and/or supplier perspective) to a macro (Industry and/or Council perspective) level.
What does the SASDC do?
The Council serves as a Platform through which Corporates, Black Owned Enterprises & otherStrategic Entities can do more business leveraging Preferential Procurement & SupplierDevelopment Interventions.
We verify key credentials of our certified Black Suppliers through a Proprietary Due-Diligence Methodology that the SASDC developed in colloboration with our Corporates &other Strategic Partners
Recognising that Buying is dependent on relationships, we reliably foster businessnetworks and relationships by Connecting Corporates & certified Black ownedBusinesses
We build corporate member and certified supplier capacity and avail Best Practices, Tools &Expertise related to supporting and enhancing the implementation of effective SupplierDiversity Development
By celebrating, we reinforce the motivation that supplier diversity makes good business sense.We recognised corporates and suppliers that excel due to supplier diversity and we advocatetheir leadership by provided Brand Exposure through SASDC communication channels

Who are our targeted Black Suppliers?
To qualify as a beneficiary Black Supplier of the SASDC, the
supplier must meet the following requirements:
OWNERSHIP: Not less than 50% plus one unit, unfettered black shareholding
CONTROL: Black owners must enjoy control in line with their majority
shareholding
MANAGEMENT: Black managers in the business must demonstrate
control/authority in line with their positions and functional responsibility.
ESTABLISHED: Demonstrate that they have a business capable of providing
goods or services that corporations would be willing to buy.

Enterprise Development Supplier Development
Scope Enterprise development can be anything from thecreation of new enterprises to the redevelopment ofexisting enterprises, or many activities in between. Notnecessarily linked to corporate value chain.
Any effort of a buying firm with its suppliers to increasethe performance and/or capabilities of the supplier andmeet the buying firm’s supply needs. Confined tocorporate supply chain.
Objective Primarily to develop and grow businesses by creatingnew business value, but secondarily, to ensure long-termjob creation and sustainability of small and mediumbusinesses as important contributors to any economy.
To create and maintain a network of competent suppliersand to improve various suppliers capabilities that arenecessary for the buying organization to meet itsincreasing competitive challenges.
Focus General and Holistic in relation to and benchmarkedagainst generic best-practice business capabilities relativeto the current status of the ED business.
Specific in relation to the actual performance andbenchmarked against the expected performance of theSD business.
Involves Internal ED Business stakeholders and ED advocates andagents. The individuals or organizations who have aninterest in the result of the enterprise activity areresponsible for funding, guiding or supporting theenterprise development activity toward its objective.
Procurement customer(s), Internal SD Businessstakeholders and SD advocates and agents.
Intended Outcome
Revenue and overall business growth as a collectiveoutcome of increased capacity, capability andcompetency.
Increased supply performance and customer satisfactionas a result of increased capacity, capability andcompetency.
SHIFTING THE PRIVATE SECTOR PARADIGM
• Enterprise Development and Supplier Development currently positioned as a corporate social responsibility and compliance issue.
• Private sector funding has grown over time but involvement is more often at arms length.
• Small businesses and new B2B market entrants still challenged with penetrating established markets.
• Need to shift from a push to a pull model for appropriately supporting small businesses.
• Need to better leverage corporate procurement markets by mobilizing private sector to more proactively drive outcomes-based development.
