0.1 Description

• User needs an application to provide information about SIUC and the Carbondale area

• User will be running the application on their Android smartphone and often need directions to some location

0.2 Must have functionality

• User must be able to look up movie times by location and genre/type

• Allows user to find information on o!ce hours and contact information of instructors

• Allows user to find information on food choices, hours, and locations of restaurants

• Allows user to find information on the local university student chapter of Association for Computing Machinery

• Allows user to find information on sporting events (location, time, teams)

0.3 Guidance

• Current design allows user to pick movie by genre; user may want to choose by title as opposed to genre

• Additional text may be needed on certain buttons (along the bottom of some selection screens) as currently the buttonsare not self-explanatory

0.4 What is expected of the Application Model? (E!ectiveness/Usefulness)

• Should be basic enough that the average college student can use it

• Should keep an updated database of events/items

• Should return accurate information from database

• Should account for possible invalid inputs from users when generating/storing user reviews

0.5 Perceived Coding and Design Risks

0.5.1 Model

• Minimal Risk: There are very few instances in which the user will encounter user-generated errors when using theprogram

0.5.2 GUI

• Some buttons or entries may not be user-intuitive

0.5.3 Miscellaneous

• Potential Coding Risk: Combining/sorting the data in certain ways may be hard or ine!cient, depending on back-enddesign (Movies and Locations may be sorted in di"erent tables, with a separate reference table that combines the two)

• Other Risk: If internet is unavailable, application may not function correctly; User may be new and not know abouthardware “Back” Button

• Allows the user to pick which functionality of the application they would like to use

0.6.2 Food (B)

1. Food by Type - Allows the user to pick their food based on restaurant location/payment type

2. Food by Category - Allows the user to pick their food by style of cooking

3. Restaurant Listing (by type or category) - Lists all the restaurants by that type or category

4. Restaurant Detail Screen - Gives the address, phone number, ratings, reviews, and name of restaurant

0.6.3 Sports (C)

1. Sports Categories - Displays sports categories

2. Upcoming Sporting Events - Displays upcoming sporting events

3. Sporting Events Listing by Sport - Displays list of upcoming sporting events by sport

4. Sporting Event Detail Screen - Gives date, time, map, navigational buttons

0.6.4 Locate an Instructor (D)

1. Department Listing - Lists all Departments

2. Directory Listing of Instructors - Displays all Instructors at SIUC alphabetically

3. Instructor Listing by Department - Shows all the instructors in the specified department

4. Instructor Detail Screen - Shows picture, o!ce hours, o!ce, email, phone, rating, and reviews of instructor

1. Genre List - Displays all movie genres

2. Location List - Displays all movies of that particular location

3. Movie by Genre - Displays all movies of that particular genre

4. Movie by Theatre - Displays all movies running at specified theatre

5. Movie Detail Screen - Displays title, running length, synopsis, ESRB rating, times/places, and options for buying tickets(goes to fandango.com) and rating movie (goes to rottentomatoes.com)

1. ACM Home - Displays options: Meeting Times, Special Events, Special Interest Groups, O!cers
