Project Overview:

6

• Selection of Development/ Implementation Partner: Initial discussions began in July 2011

• Project Duration: Sulzer MES System (30 to 36 weeks)

• Scope of MII Work — Project focused on developing a MES system which links back to the SAP ECC

system and custom SQL database. The Sulzer and Dell teams integrated shop floor data leveraging SAP

MII with the current SAP ECC environment. The system allows shopfloor users to run jobs against the

Orders downloaded from ECC, perform Confirmations, record downtime events, perform Goods

Receipts/Issue and OEE reporting. The project approach leveraged a traditional methodology (Design, Build

and Run) based on a SAP MII 12.1 environment and went live in May 2012.

• Resources:

• Dell — 4 SAP MII Technical Architects

• Sulzer – 2 Functional

• Phase 1 Scope:

• Functional/Technical Specifications, Coding, Testing & Training

• Weekly Status Update Meetings – DELL Sharepoint

Key Benefits

15

Key Benefits: • Information access available on demand

• More effective, less costly and faster order deliveries

• Real time shop floor visibility

“With this implementation, we consolidated several interfaces into a

single interface that captures far more real-time data than we were

able to capture before. This will help us further improve our

processes.”

Learning Points:

16

• Machine Integration: Incorporate significant lead and testing time

for shop floor integration points.

• Backup or Disaster Recovery Functions: Clearly define

expectations regarding scope.
