200…Joe Pavelski scored his 200th career NHL goal on Nov. 22, becoming just the third Sharks player (Patrick Marleau, OwenNolan) to have scored 200 or more goals with Team Teal. Pavelski became the 43rd U.S.-born player to reach the 200-goal plateau, and is one of just eight active, American-born NHLers to have scored 200 goals. GET SHORTY…Tommy Wingels scored the Sharks’ first shorthanded goal of the season on Nov. 22 vs. Arizona. The last time SanJose scored a man down was on March 16, 2014 at the NY Rangers (Logan Couture). The goal was Wingels’ fourth careershorthanded tally.   STRONG IN THE CIRCLE…James Sheppard currently ranks 4th on the team in faceoff winning percentage (53.1%) and has won50% or more of his draws in seven of his last 10 games. In his last three games, Sheppard has won 67% of his faceoffs (22-for-33).   A DEBUT TO REMEMBER…Rookie netminder Troy Grosenick (Brookfield, Wisconsin) made his NHL debut on Nov. 16 at Carolinaand turned aside all 45 shots he faced for his first career NHL win and shutout. Grosenick became the first Sharks goalie with a shutoutin his NHL debut, and his 45 saves were the most by a San Jose goaltender in a shutout in team history. Here is a look at otheraccomplishments by Grosenick in the win (courtesy of Elias and Darin Stephens):

Per Elias, 45 saves were the most by an NHL goalie in a debut shutout since the 1979-80 expansion season

Per Elias, the 45 saves were the most by a Sharks goalie in his debut (previous: Wade Flaherty, 43 on April 12, 1992 at Oilers)

Per Elias, only three U.S.-born goaltenders have ever recorded a shutout in their first NHL game and they happen to be the last three

netminders from any country to do so: Grosenick from Wisconsin, Pittsburgh-born John Gibson for the Ducks on April 7, 2014 (at

Vancouver) and Chicago-bornAl Montoya for the Coyotes on April 1, 2009 (at Colorado).

2014-15 is the third Sharks season in which three goalies have recorded shutouts (Antti Niemi, Alex Stalock, Grosenick). 2002-03:

Miikka Kiprusoff, Evgeni Nabokov and Vesa Toskala. 2005-06: Nabokov, Nolan Schaefer, Toskala.

Prior to Grosenick, the last goaltender to record 40 or more saves and a shutout in his NHL debut was Vancouver’s Mike Fountain,

who made 40 saves in a 3-0 victory over New Jersey on Nov. 14, 1996.

Per Elias, Sharks are the first team in NHL history in a single season to have three or more goalies record shutouts in their first

respective games of the season.  Debut Shutouts by Undrafted Goalies in NHL History (Elias)

BURNS-ING UP THE SCORESHEET: Brent Burns became the first defenseman in Sharks franchise history to open a season with afive-game point streak, registering seven points (1-6=7) from 10/8 at Los Angeles thru 10/18 at New Jersey. Burns scored his 100th

career NHL goal on Oct. 26 at Anaheim, and currently ranks 2nd in the NHL among goals for defensemen and 2nd in points. CLIMBING THE LADDER…Joe Thornton and Patrick Marleau are both climbing up the NHL’s all-time leader boards in a couple keycategories. Marleau currently sits at 443 goals, which ranks 61st on the NHL’s all-time goals scored list (he trails Daniel Alfredsson byone goal for 60th). Thornton is currently T-23rd in NHL history for assists (865). SWIMMING WITH SHARKS…Joe Thornton currently sits in 42nd place on the NHL’s all-time points list (1,214). Thornton just recentlypassed former Sharks Bernie Nicholls and Vincent Damphousse on the all-time list, and he trails former Shark Jeremy Roenick (T-40th all-time w/Larry Murphy) by two points.
