Tips for Effective Posting on Facebook

Engage Your Fans: When you’re promoting an event, it can be tempting to only post key information and move on. But if you want readers to really notice your message, it’s important to craft a catchy, conversational post. Also use bright colors, catchy graphics and engaging imagery to keep people’s interest and attention. By asking questions, soliciting feedback, posting pictures, and asking your readers to share your post, you are far more likely to get friends excited for Connect for Respect!

Share the Right Information: When you craft your message, take the time to reflect on all the information you need to cover. Be as concise as possible with the Who, What, When, Where, and Whys, keeping in mind that most readers won’t read lengthy paragraphs of text. Best practice is to keep posts in the 190-250 character range – if you can make it even more brief, do so.

Tips for Posting on Twitter

Know Twitter’s Messaging Format: If you’re on Twitter regularly, you probably already know that you are limited to 140 characters per message. It’s a good practice to leave space to allow other users to retweet your message, so aim for making posts no longer than 120 characters if you are looking for re-tweetability. Make sure you use @NationalPTA or our official hashtags, #PTA, #PTSAProud and #Connect4Respect in all your tweets.
