Banana Leaves

Samoans eat banana leaves that they get off banana trees they grow. They fry the banana leaves on pans over fires. They mostly eat them for breakfast.

Taro is a type of vegetable they eat in Samoa after cooking them in umu’s. Taro grows in the wild as well as being planted. It is also a root.

Umu

An earth oven, ground oven or cooking pit is one of the simplest and most ancient cooking structures. At its most basic, an earth oven is a pit in the ground used to trap heat and bake, smoke, or steam food. Earth ovens have been used in many places and cultures in the past.
