Miniature Circuit Breakers are intended to provide protection against overloads and short

circuits, which can cause damage to cables & equipment. MCB’s are offered in various current

ratings & configurations as below. When current in a circuit exceeds the rating of the MCB the

Thermal Bi-Metallic element gets heated & initiates the tripping action. Higher the overload

faster the MCB trips.

Four Pole MCB - FP

The Over Load Protection is achieved with a thermal Bi-Metal Strip. The change in

temperature produces a change of curvature. One side of the Bi-Metal supports are

fixed & uneven expansion of Bi-Metal causes bending of the strip. The bending strip

hits the latch spring & knob mechanism causing the MCB to trip. The overload

protection works only upto the level where magnetic tripping starts.

Overload Protection ( Thermal Tripping )

Magnetic Tripping is based on the electromagnetic principle. When short circuit,

measured generally in (kA) comes through the solenoid the electromagnetic force is

induced in the plunger that strikes on the contacts to open. On opening of contacts arc

is generated, The components are designed so that the arc moves into the arch chutes

and arc is quenched inside the arc chutes.

ACCL is used for efficient distribution of Single Phase generator power in Residential Apartments,

commercial complex, townships etc without overloading the generator. The ACCL will switch the load

to generator supply during mains failure. It also acts as a current limiter when load on generator

exceeds the pre-set limit the ACCL goes into an Overload Trip cycle mode alerting users through LED

indication / Beep to reduce any excess load connected to the circuit .

Salzer is the pioneer in India to develop an ACCL’s with a Heavy duty contactor design having Electrical /

Mechanical interlock feature. With S-Mode (Wherein if any one phase fails the ACCL will disconnect

from Mains supply and changeover to Generator supply) & T-Mode (Wherein if all three phase or

R phase fails the ACCL will disconnect from Mains supply and changeover to Generator supply)
