How We Do ItThe GEO-Slab provides the foundation structure for the building at much reduced soil loadings than traditional footings, allowing opportunities for building on low-lying areas and poorer quality soils not normally suitable for conventional construction.

We achieve all this by designing a GEO-Slab, a Frost Protected Shallow Foundation (FPSF) that structurally behaves as a two way raft foundation resting on soil that is modeled as an infinite set of springs.

1- a base of ¾” clear stone is put down2- plumbing and utilities are roughed in 3-stone is leveled and 9” GEO Foam is put down starting 1-2” beyond the foot print string lines 4- perimeter chalk lines are applied to the 9”GEO Foam base

- the GEO-Passive edge element is then glued and pinned down at the chalk lines5-Stego vapor barrier is applied over the entire base extending out beyond the edge elements by 12”

-this is then covered by a layer of 3” GEO Foam in the area between the edge elements6-Reinforcing steel is installed

At one outside edge of the building was the elevator pit which was also designed as part of the raft slab. The turned down rebar will connect the pits walls and floor to the slab yet to be poured

Cisterns

2 sump pits were installed adjacent to the elevator pit independent of the GEO-Passive Slab. A High water table and poor soils required designing the slab for less then 65 kPa conditions

-Stego Moisture Barrier had to be protected from puncturing.-Any punctures had to be repaired before concrete was placed-Many slab penetrations to be sealed-Placing the top 3” layer of EPS over the Stego protected the majority of it from damage

Legalett site support was ongoing throughout the project and a full inspection of the work performed was undertaken prior to

placement of concrete

Concrete is placed using an over head pump.

Slab must be kept wet for a minimum of 3 days in order to reach design strengths and to prevent cracking. No Saw cutting is allowed
