The South Texas Heritage Sale was held in Robstown, Tex-as Nov. 19. There were many interested buyers, old mem-bers and new members who came out to view the 96 head of cattle. Despite a weak cat-tle market, prices held up well for quality purebred and STAR 5 females. There was a lot of excitement generated by the King Ranch consignment, KR 36/15, a moderate-framed,

polled bred heifer with ex-cellent carcass numbers. The high-selling female, King Ranch 36/15, was consigned by King Ranch and sold to Wi-ley Ranch. John Martin of John Martin Ranches received the first annual Heritage Breeder Award for his contributions to the Santa Gertrudis breed and many years of membership in the South Texas Santa Gertru-dis affiliate.

Red Doc Farm’s 12th Annu-al Red Hot Bull Sale was a packed house in the new Red Doc sale facility. Red Doc bulls sold strong as commercial cattlemen and registered buyers contend-ed for industry-leading per-formance and carcass ge-netics. High-selling lots included Red Doc Never Sank 5012, which sold for $20,000 to Kubecka/Wendt Ranches and Hefte Ranches. Red Doc Trump 5127 sold to McCol-

laum Santa Gertrudis Ranch of Utah for $19,500. Other highlights included Red Doc Revolt 4105, which sold to Gray Oaks Farm for $21,000.
