St. Joseph’s newly formed Altar and Rosary Society invites all parishioners to
join its ranks. Its primary purpose is prayer, specifically a 15 decade Rosary after
daily and Sunday Masses. The group also cares for the sanctuary and undertakes
special projects according to the needs of the parish and of the Pastor.
New Means of Inter-Parish Communication: Urgent News? Schedule Changes?
Disaster Notification? Death Notices? In the past, these things parish-specific
things were dealt with by various methods: Phone Trees, Email Trees, Snack Get-
Togethers at Mickey D’s or Starbucks, Smoke Signals, etc. Now I have been
introduced to something that I want to serve as THE organ of parish communi-
cation and also serve as a tool to promote parish unity. Many parishes are presently
using this tool with great success. It’s called ‘Flocknotes.’ Signing up with this
service ensures immediate delivery of any announcement, notice or news item to
your email or text. This is especially important for choirs, servers, councils,
cleaners, sacristans, but is just as important for all parishioners. Get the news, be
“in the know.” Sign up online with flocknote.com/StJoesRockdale or via text by
texting StJoes to the number 84576.

Dear Parishioners,
It’s pretty much good news all around this week, although in some
instances, the timing was off. For example, I was expecting the delivery of
the new side altars this past Monday. No such luck. So, though I write this
Wednesday, the altars are due here Saturday. My hope is that they will be
completely installed by the time the 4:15PM Mass is celebrated. If not, I’ll
be happy if they’re at least in the sanctuary and can be dealt with after
Mass. If it’s not perfect this weekend, rest assured it will be perfect next
weekend – a beautiful sanctuary, helping us raise our minds to Heaven.
I would also like to call your attention to something very important and
which has received a lot of bulletin space this week. That is the
implementation of a new parish communication tool called ‘Flocknotes.’
Please, check out and follow through with my request in that notice.
In addition to the altars and the adjusted placement of our beautiful statues,
I call your attention to the other great things that have happened around
here. Our new doors, for example. Three out of four doors have been
replaced in the church; two out of four doors have been replaced in the
school. To say that these door replacements were necessary is an
understatement. Along with the doors, the locks in every door, even if the
door was not replaced, are brand new, high-security locks. The locks in the
bank of garages across the street from the church have also been replaced,
as has every lock in the rectory.
There are several more things planned for our “campus.” I finally got a
proposal from a major contractor for significant and necessary work which I
hope will proceed quickly over the next weeks.
At the suggestion of a member of our Finance Council, I also want to tell
you that a great deal of work has been done in the rectory, well, at least in
one of the rectory bathrooms, the one on the second floor which I use.
There was significant degradation and corrosion of the window framing and
tile grouting in my bath/shower. Now, via repair and replacement, my
bathroom has a new lease on life and the repairs done there also have an
impact on the downstairs bathroom as well. No more interior leaking and
discoloration and corrosion of walls. That bathroom will soon have a bit of
a makeover. All of this was possible because of your fund-raising
generosity over the past two+ years, for which I am very grateful, my
children and my friends.
