THANK YOU

I would like to say thank you to all of my friends and neighbors for the condolences extended to

me with cards, phone calls and kind words, on the death of my husband, Daniel. Your love and

support have added to the strength I have needed during this difficult time. I am thankful to be

living in such a caring community.

It looks like my fish of the month. Tonight I battled and won a fight with a Big Bull Redfish measuring 40 inches and approx. 40 lbs. The fish was caught using chunked mullet with a 3 oz. weight, far out towards the channel.

"Holistic Health Care and Stem Cell Regenerative Therapy"

by Dr. Timothy Steflik, DC

Numerous services are offered at Coastal Integrative

Health Care where a team of medical professionals deter-

mine what treatment is best for each patient. Stem Cell Re-

generative Therapy is included in that array of services. Dr.

Steflik explained that "when injected into an injured area,

stem cells become the cells of the tissue that need regener-

ating and create and grow only what is needed".

Michigan Party— February 18th

A great time was had by thirty four Edge-

water Landing residents at the annual

Michiganders Pot Luck dinner. Lots of

friendly conversation and tales of living in

the great white north were shared. New resi-

dents had a chance to meet fellow people

who were from Michigan.

A white elephant gift exchange added some

new excitement to the evening and scrump-

tious food was enjoyed by all. Special

thanks to Bonnie and Michael Sokoloski

and Alice and Robert Alleva for all of their

hard work in planning and executing this

great evening of fun and comradery.

Come out, come out, wherever you are?

You’ve met the outstanding group of past board of directors. All are fellow residents, no better than any but braver than most. This list of residents needs your name on it. Some joined as mere rook-ies, their first year here.

They all have one thing in common. They want to keep the good looks of the Landing while paying the least amount of money. You can do that.

Removing the mystique from the Board: TJW handles the money, computers can type speech -to-words, board people follow well thought out directions and handle the calendar. If you bring common sense to the Board, you'll fit in fine. The pat answer of, “I don't know but I'll find out,” saves anyone in awkward moments and preserves integrity. It also provides a sense of commonality which all possess and professes an, “I can do it too,” attitude.

The Board sits on one side of the table while we residents sit on the other and a few would prefer to sit under. There's no need for that. We can all do something. Not everyone can do everything but we all can do something, making this outstanding group not so extraordinary but just a fellow resident list that constantly needs replenishing.

While we’re at it, a few committees need your help and expertise too. Our all-important, maybe the most important committee, the Finance Committee, needs a new chairperson. Chuck MacDonald has re-tired after a stellar career (retirement) in the Landing. I believe he is willing to train someone with some finance background. We need your help.

Annie and Bill McDevitt have also retired from the Directory Committee. This committee has made the extra luxuries we enjoy in the Landing possible without having to raise our dues. Annie and Bill, I believe, are also willing to train an interested resident to further our luxurious purchases in the Landing.

So, come on out. This is your home, your community. We are what you are, and can be everything we all are, but a few can’t do everything.

Two past Board Members

BOD Highlights,

A meeting took place on Feb 17, 2017 to discuss in open forum how the Edgewater Landing Budget is

put together. Those in attendance found the meeting productive.

At the Feb 2, 2017 BOD Meeting discussion of the Violation Enforcement Rules and Regulations was

discussed in detail. Other issues discussed were that the Audit procedure is in progress, Problems

with Advanced Air were identified and will be pursue., Also discussed, was using volunteers to do

many projects has saved residents thousands of dollars each year which has a major effect on yearly

dues.

Also voted upon and passed were the following Motions:

Adopt the BOD Goals for 2017, Approve the request of the Edgewater Police to hold their annual Ban-

quet in our Main Room on April 7, Approve the purchase of an aerator for Lake 4, Purchase a re-

placement recumbent bike for the weight room, Motion to waive the 3 bid rule for replacing electric

panels at the front entrance, Approve the purchase of the AC and air handler equipment for the Game

Room, and Approve the shed installation at 707 Starboard as an exception.

Only semi-retired, In the past Gary has been employed by Boston Whaler as a Sales Manager and as a College Consultant advising parents and grandparents on how best to financially help their children and grandchildren with their college education. Gary noted that just deposit-ing money in the child’s bank account can ruin the child’s chances of obtaining scholarships and funding. He hooked up with one of our realtors and when he was shown all the pictures of the Clubs and Activities on the wall in the Club House, he knew he had found his new home. He looked for two days, signed the contract and closed within ten days. Gary is the proud father of a son who played football for Clemson in the 90’s and is, therefore, Gary is an avid Clem-son fan. He takes great pride also in his Sail Boating accomplishments, participating in many races and beating some of the best racers in the world. He is a champion swimmer and is still competing. He will be swimming in National Competition in Sarasota with over 800 swimmers and hopes to come home with eight medals. EL will be rooting for you Gary. He also loves to fish. Gary would like to offer his expertise to the community on both financing children and grandchildren’s college and teaching swimming. Gary is single and “looking” this writer was advised. Unfortunately, Trudel fell on her driveway recently and hasn’t been able to do much golfing, but is looking forward to getting back to this favorite pastime. Her sister and husband have been visiting from Germany and have really enjoyed our pool and other amenities. Trudel likes to play cards and hopes to become in-volved in that activity as soon as she gets settled. Trudel has a daughter living in New Jersey, two stepsons and one stepdaughter all living up north. Trudel will be a snowbird dividing her time between her home on Long Island and Edgewater Landing. At the February 2nd BOD meeting we adopted several goals for 2017. These include:

Board meeting procedure

1. Address civility at BOD meetings

2. Have periodic Board ‘workshops’ to discuss issues outside the monthly meetings

Reduce duplication/replication of comments at BOD

meetings

This goal is intended to improve the efficiency of BOD meet-ings and allow the Board to discuss issues outside of the for-mal framework of the monthly meetings, although a workshop is open to all residents.

Update and modernize EL office functions in cooperation with TJW

Redefine and clarify data collection and storage re-quirements, both paper and digital

Explore adding minor administrative functions to the clerical position in the future

Review and update Information Officer Handbook (e.g., explore modifying the front gate responsibil-ity for unauthorized visitors)

Complete the labeling and indexing of the Assn. files

This is an attempt to better coordinate office functions and procedures between the Assn. and TJW. It is intended to better coordinate Association expectations with TJW proce-dures and to review and update procedures that have existed for many years.

Continue development of the E.L. website for greater val-ue and use

We believe the website will be the primary communication with residents in the future and wish to see it improved to ful-fill that status.

Complete review, update and re-approval for all P&Ps last approved before 2010

P&P updates are a continuation of last year's efforts until all the documents have been reviewed.

Improve communications with residents to Promote understanding and respect between the

Board and the community Foster (promote) leadership volunteerism (i.e., as

committee chairs and members of the BOD)

This is part of an ongoing effort to align the community and Board through communication and mutual respect, and to continue the critical needs of the community through volun-teerism and leadership for our committees and functions. This has been the basis of success in our community opera-tions since its inception and needs to be maintained. Achiev-ing these goals, we can keep Edgewater Landing the special community that attracted us the first time we saw it. It's all still here, but only because of the efforts of our caring resi-dents.

Any suggestion you may have to help us achieve these goals

is greatly appreciated. Gene Emter, B.O.D. President

‘FIRST FISH’ JOY

I remember all those years ago

...fishing from the bank,

when a catfish took my nightcrawler

and gave my line a yank!

I remember how I set the hook

with a flick of a bamboo pole,

then felt the jerk of a fighting fish

as I fought him to the shoal.

Within the man that lives today

beats the heart of that little boy,

and when fishing, I still feel the thrill

of that youngster’s ‘first fish’ joy!

I’ve fished the turquoise Caribbean;

the Atlantic and Pacific, too.

Done rivers wild and mountain streams

...all vivid shades of blue.

I’ve traveled far to distant Seas

...to exotic ports of call.

I’ve fished for every kind of fish

...and almost caught them all!

But none have made the memories

...no matter the size or take,

as that first, exciting channel cat

caught from the bank

…..of my hometown lake.
