An independent survey conducted by Baines Simmons

Introduction

As world leaders in aviation safety, we are evaluating the current state of SMS within the

aviation industry.

To help achieve this objective, we conducted an independent survey in April/May 2010, targeting select

individuals who represent a cross-section of the aviation industry. The survey consisted of 14 questions.

We are pleased to publish our initial findings from the survey.

Our analysis of the results is ongoing and we will be following up in due course with a thought leadership

paper which examines the responses in fuller detail. The results shown here are based on percentages of

respondents answers and are rounded to the nearest percent.

We would like to thank all participants who took time to complete the survey and contribute to the valuable

industry findings.
