Welcome Message from the Conference Chair

Habari! It’s with great pleasure that we welcome you to the 2013 eLearning

Innovations Conference & Expo. On behalf of the conference management team, our

sponsors and collaborators, I am excited about the opportunity the next two days

present to all of us – to meet and share ideas!

The theme of the conference is Advancing Human Capital Through eLearning and

Mobile Learning Applications. To support this theme are 8 tracks and 54

presentations featuring the latest innovations in e-learning and mobile technologies;

presented in a variety of formats including symposia, workshops, keynotes, panels,

and innovative sessions. This conference was developed with innovators, leaders, and educators in mind and with

a goal of enhancing Africa’s leadership in using ICTs for education and training. Whether you are an ICT expert or

an emerging ICT innovator/leader/educator, you will find that this conference offers diverse opportunities for you

to:

Expand your network and identify potential collaborators

Share insights and experiences with e-learning

Develop a learning community and a support system beyond the conference

As we mark this inaugural conference in 2013, I am pleased to note that the response from eLearning stakeholders

has been phenomenal. This year’s conference has attracted international audience from over 10 countries. With

such a diverse representation and expertise that is represented here, I am confident that the Pre-conference and

Conference events will enable you to enhance your eLearning practices – to be captured via the “New Learning!”

evaluation tools during the conference.

This conference addresses the learning needs that are evident in the 21st century knowledge economy; with

organizations seeking innovative ways of enhancing human capital across all sectors. It will offer you diverse tips

and tools to leverage the power of learning technologies. The two-day pre-conference workshops that just ended

were a great success and they provided hands-on training to equip practitioners with the core competencies on

eLearning foundations and best practices. This two-day conference will provide an opportunity for knowledge

exchange among professionals that have embraced e-learning and those planning to integrate ICTs to their existing

training/educational approaches. You will discover the latest advances in eLearning tools and practices that foster

talent development as you to engage in conversations with experts.

Beyond the formal learning events, discover Kenya’s magical sceneries by indulging yourself in a safari around

Kenya. From our fun-filled capital city Nairobi, to the wildebeests migration happening in the Maasai Mara, to the

Kenyan coastal white sandy beaches!

Finally, plans for the 2014 conference are already underway. I urge you to collaborate with us as partners,

presenters, delegates, sponsors and as our good-will ambassadors! Join me in making this event a memorable

experience. Cheers to each innovator, leader or educator represented here today! KARIBU!
