Mission: Sacred Heart Catholic School’s mission is to provide an opportunity for children to develop a commitment to church, family, and community through growth in knowledge, social skills, and Christian virtues. John 3:16 Just a few short weeks ago, our mornings at Sacred Heart began with arriving at school and greeting teachers, parents, friends, and colleagues. Our days started with the sound of happy children, the ringing of morning bells, and the blessing of morning prayer with our school community. The days were filled with lots of learning, recess/ PE activities, and a few challenges. And just like we started each day by coming together in prayer, we ended it the same way, thanking God for his many gifts and united as a community of faith. Sadly, school as we know it has changed for all of us, but our commitment to one another, to our faith and to our Catholic values has not changed. I cannot begin to imagine how overwhelming the current situation is for all of our families, both personally and professionally. Yet somehow, you continue to persevere in your support for our many efforts during this transition to distance learning and working from home. Your belief in Catholic education validates the importance of everything that we do, and renews our commitment to our rich legacy of helping all of our students reach their highest potential of learning. Please accept our heartfelt appreciation for your steadfast partnership and know that you are an important part of our Sacred Heart community. On behalf of our faculty and staff, I wish you good health and perseverance as you continue to navigate through these unprecedented times! May you all have a very blessed and peaceful Easter! TEACHER MESSAGES

PRK 3 & 4Hello and hoping you are all well. We are missing seeing your happy faces everyday. Since we were not able to grow our plants at school this month next week we will do an experiment and grow a plant at home. The students will enjoy this fun activity. We send our love. Blessings,Mrs. Williams and Mrs. Linda

KINDERGARTENIn Kindergarten, we have been keeping connected with a few giggles, grins, and of course, learning! On St. Patrick's Day, there was a sharing of the green. A few days later, our science lesson was on bugs. I found one, and sent them a pic. Then ewww...the kiddos sent their pic of icky bugs! This week, homework will be to write their Sight Words! The twist, they will get to write their words on their very own sidewalks, with chalk!😁 I miss normal, but MOST of all, I MISS my kiddos.

THIRD GRADE Hope everyone is doing well, staying safe and adapting to this new journey. Even though this new journey has pushed us to a new way of learning, I am very proud to announce that 3rd grade is doing amazing! We have continued learning new objectives and gaining new knowledge in every subject area. I miss you all very much! I am super excited of zooming once a week and being able to interact with each other. This is going to be a great opportunity to share new ideas and tips during this new adventure! Can’t wait to see all your smiling faces and hear your cool stories. Continue to read and study so your minds will stay bright and smart! Don’t forget I truly appreciate each and every one of you for continuing to show importance to your education. Keep up the great work! Third grade rocks!

FOURTH GRADEMrs. Trevino misses all of herstudents!Keepreading and staysafeandhealthy. Iloveandmissallof you.Continueto showtheworld thatReadersare Leaders! Most importantly, continue toshowtheworld thatour faith isstrong.❤ I am happy to seethat all of my students areworking on their assignments.Way togo fourthgraders! I amextremely proud of every singleone of you! I’m excited andlooking forward to zooming inwithyouonceaweek. Can’twaittoseeallofyourbeautifulfaces!

FIFTH GRADEMy 5th graders have been working so hard with this new distance learning. I am so proud of them for their hard work. Their parents are doing great too with adjusting to our new schooling! The students have been learning how to multiply fractions, doing science lessons, and comparing adjectives. They have been keeping up with reading for Accelerated Reader goals. We are having our first zoom class next week. I'm looking forward to seeing my students. I look forward to going back to school to see my daring

EIGHTH GRADE As much as I miss my students, we are adapting and making the best out of an unexpected and unusual situation. We are still feeding our growing love of literature by reading and discussing Lord of the Flies (8th), The Outsiders (7th), and Treasure Island (6th). In Language Arts, we are progressing in our writing and grammar skills by crafting essays and breaking down the English language through visual diagrams. In Social Studies, we are learning about important events, ranging from the early republic in a young U.S. to the Texas Revolution. I canʼt wait to see you all soon!

MATH (7th & 8th Grades) Since Spring Break, the UL Middle School math classes have been working hard trying to stay on track. These classes actually never missed a beat. The drive and initiative of these students has made the online transition almost seamless. Since the curriculum for each of these courses is so fast paced, each class has been meeting on a regular basis on Zoom over the last two weeks. Utilizing Zoom has been great because It has been great seeing everyone’s smiling faces. These Middle School students are hard workers and terrific students. In 7th Grade Pre-Algebra, we started our unit on Solving Multi Step Equations and in Algebra I, we completed our unit on Rad ica l s and So lv ing Radica l Equations. Both classes actually tested over Zoom this week; Algebra I on Wednesday and Pre-Algebra on Thursday. It was an experience for everyone, but overall, it was successful endeavor. We are all adapting and learning new technology which is challenging and exciting at the same time. In Pre-Algebra, we will continue on our path laying the foundation for Algebra I next year and will be starting the unit on Solving Multi Step Inequalities. In Algebra I, we are b e g i n n i n g o u r u n i t o n Quadratics…..and Mrs. Palacio LOVES QUADRATICS!!

Some of our Alumni, the Kulak family went to Sacred Heart Catholic School’s Stations of the

Cross along the sidewalk and followed along with Fr Chris’ FB livestream of the stations. After

Stations, they placed new flowers at our Blessed Mother’s grotto, also at the school. They played her favorite music, talked to her, and adored her.

Oh, how we love her!
