by 2017, primarily driven by the

rising preference of customers for

healthy drinks.

Growth in the fruit juice market is also

Fruit juice has exhibited robust per

capita consumption growth over the

past few years, whilst carbonated

beverages have only achieved

modest growth.

indicates a potential for long term

growth.

Consumption in the USA and

Germany is approximately 44 litres

per capita, whilst in South Africa it is

approximately 12 litres per capita

(Pty) Ltd Integrated Report (2015)

Ceres Beverages, fruit juice brought

in the highest revenue contribution

(60%) for the year 2015.

Despite the recorded increase in

volume and value, consumers are

compromising on product quality for

price.

The average selling price per liter

increased by 4.3% in 2014.

R8 billion worth of citrus fruit into

the EU, and this supports

approximately 120 000 00 direct and

indirect jobs in the sector.

South Africa’s juice industry sells 80%

of its products on the domestic

Exporting just a fifth of what it

produces, it differs from the canned

fruit industry, where these proportions

are reversed.

South Africa exported many

thousands of tons of fruit juices to

countries all over Sub-Saharan Africa

in the first three quarters of the 2015.
