Rules and expectations

At a school with so many students, it’s obvious that it requires rules and expectations to the students.

There need to be strict rules and the students need to take responsibility and behave and act in a proper and decent way.

So therefore there are some very specific rules we have to follow, to make it run smooth and well for everyone.

We have to help in the kitchen and clean most of the school every single day, since there are no cleaning service available

The boys and girls have to be at their own section, dorms between 6p.m. to 8 a.m. meaning no visiting. You can visit each other at the dorms between 8a.m. till 6p.m.

All students must go their own dorms at 9.45 p.m. and at 11p.m.we are expected to sleep.

Your not allowed to drink alcohol, no drugs and no-smoking , which they respect a lot and are very strict about.

Rules and expectations There are many expectations to the

students, which actually also is very understandable and fair, otherwise it would be hard to run the school properly, without the students cooperating

Aabybro Efterskole finds it very important that everyone, students but also the teachers talk to each other in a decent and politely tone, because it makes the atmosphere at the school much better and therefore a better place .

They also expect that the students take any challenge that they may be witness of and experience in a rather positive way. In general they only expect what seems to be fair, that you do the duties you are obligated to do, obey the rules and treat everyone with respect and in a good way.

The WEEKENDS In the weekends you can mostly make

your own decision whether you want to stay at the school or go home to your parents. In the beginning most of the students go home, but as we start getting to know each other we often decide to stay in the weekends.

It can be nice to go home, so you can relax and be yourselves, which you often can’t at the school, because there are people everywhere. But its also possible to relax and have fun with the students at the school in the weekends. So it´s really your own choice what you want to do.

Though sometimes there are some specific events, where you are required to stay in the weekends.

Gymnastic displays• On AAE it is a tradition that the

teachers make a gymnastic display and then the students perform it.

• AAE travels all over Denmark and performs the display.

• There are about 20 displays and they are all with an audience.

• The students have to wear a gymnastic-suit, e.g. a small dress for the girls and a tight suit for the boys.

• A part of the students perform some jumps and moves in the air, which are pretty amazing.

Parties and prom Once a month the students

throw a party for everyone at the school. To keep order, there is a party committee out of students.

At the end of the school year there is a prom. Everyone is dressed very properly. The girls wear a beautiful dress and the boys wear a handsome suit.

Before the prom, the teachers decide who shall take who to the prom. Then all the students march in to the hall as a “couple”, and then they finish the school year.

The purpose and values on aabybro efterskole

Aabybro Efterskole finds it important that the student experience diversity and differences. Because it´s those differences that we all have to accept, that build up an amazing and unique community.

Aabybro Efterskole also finds it very important that every student as an individual are exposed to the feeling that they are needed. That they are a part of an important community, where all students have a specific spot to fill out.

Another value they embrace, are that the students will increase their responsibility, so when they leave the school the students have an increased self-confidence and hopefully take a lot more responsibility in the future.

To get a good year, its an obligation and requirement that both all the employers and all the students follow, respect and obey the rules and values the school has decided and founded.
