ruder finn mhealth report
DESCRIPTION
The first ever mHealth report by Ruder Finn, based on a survey of over 1,000 smartphone and tablet users launched October 18, 2012. Working with pollster YouGov, we found that users of smartphones and tablets are interested in health apps but what our respondents really wanted from health-orientated apps is the ability to make appointments at the doctors and check on test results. We think that health app developers need to learn from the makers of games apps about how to engage with people on their smartphones, if the promised mHealth revolution is ever going to happen.TRANSCRIPT

Reasons why respondents don’t currently use health apps• I have no need to access health-related
apps • I prefer to talk to my doctor in person
about any health-related questions• I do not find health apps to be helpful
But 21% said they were very or fairly likely to use a service delivered via mobile technology, to better manage their health by the end of the year
