Save paper, save trees, and save us some money... Experience the e-magazine this year. Kudos to the table for imbibing the digital culture. My second consecutive year as the editor of RubberYarn, I am thankful to the head table for giving me this wonderful opportunity. I have always wondered about the impor-tance of a magazine in the table level as all the activities and projects are captured in the annual report. Last year, I tried to cover all major activities we had as a table. As the time passed by, I feel the need to use the magazine to capture the moments of the table in the past one year and preserve it for the coming generations. My initiative was backed by the 121 family and we have the digital mag-azine this year with no limitation on the budget with maximum photos and articles.

Last year, being recognised as the best table in India was a big thing and I couldn’t find anything better than this to feature as the cover page this year. The mega fund raiser for the table, Food Fest 2013 was taken to new heights this year. General convenor, Roopu talks about the hits and misses of Food Fest 2013. Starting from the Area AGM in Coimbatore, Table had many out station fellowships and the fun is captured in images. Lots of interesting articles filled with fun and lined withphotos... this issue will thoroughly entertain you. I would like to thank all the tablers, cir-clers & Twinklers who were involved in making this issue. I would like to extend my thanks to HT Rony Kurian, who collected the articles from Sq.Leg Morley, Sq. Leg. Venu and Mrs. Nancy Mathew. I thank the ever organised Chairman, Tr. Dinesh for all the photos and all the details that were needed for this issue. I hope, all of you would have an ex-cellent time reading the e- magazine. God bless!

Dear Friends,

It has been a wonderful journey & a privilege for me as Chairman ofKRTRT121-, one of the Best Tables at the Area and National level. If I have to sum up this Tabling year, I would say”The best things in life come in threes- Friends, Dreams and Memories.” The purchase of the additional 10 cents of land for Sparsh Round Table School has been the highlight of the year. Thank you Area 1, KRTLC 86,Sq legs ,121ers and Friends who helped and supported us in accomplishing this major project this year. The year was FELLOWSHIP UNLIMITED. The socials, birthday andanniversary celebrations, impromptu get togethers, Stag Trip to Colombo andFamily meet to Vayalar keep the momentum going. The ultimate Challenge for every Chairman of 121 is the Food Fest. This time it was a cake walk for me due to my Super Efficient Convenor TrRoopu. Thank you Tr.Roopu for putting up a fantastic Food Fest 2013 and closing all accounts of FoodFest 2013 in record time. A special thanks to all my convenors for a job well done. I have to highlight the work of my StarSecretary who has worked hard to achieve the ‘Super Secretary Award’ from the National Board for two Quarters. Thank you Sq Legs for your valuable contribution to our Rubber Yarn magazine. “Adopt Adapt & Improve” is what we have done with our magazine – Rubber Yarn. We have stepped into the digital era and with great pride we release the first Rubber Yarn in E - format. My Editor Tr Twin has meticulously been collecting all the articles and this edition of Rubber Yarn E- Magazine will take you through 121s Tabling year. So sit back and enjoy your Rubber Yarn in your PC, Tablet or smart phones.

The informal night was at a location about 10minutes drive from LeMeridian. Excellent transportation arrangements by the Thrissur tablers.

The informal night setting was awesome with a giant LED screen behind the DJ counter. The dance performance by the tables were out of the world. It was like a dance show that we watch on TV. So professional and so good.

121ers were the first to hit the dance floor. The music stepped up and it was a night to remem-ber.

Circlers and we Twinklers went to Wonder La on 1st December 2012. We started our trip from my house. We went by a Tempo Traveller. Altogether there were ten twinklers. It was an exciting trip. We reached Wonder La in three hours. After hiring a locker we changed our clothes. We first went for all the water rides. It was so exciting that we again and again kept on going for the rides. Then we went to the Balarama Cave and the Roller-coaster. When the Roller-coaster went upside down, Anu aunty and Neethu aunty were screaming. By this time it was afternoon and we ate our lunch. Then we went to the wave pool and played in the water till the evening. Later when it was time to leave everyone had an ice cream. When we headed to the exit there was a joker. We took our photos with the joker. Then we merrily boarded the Tempo Traveller and were ready to leave. We saw a movie in the Tempo Traveller. We were so tired that we didn’t know we had reached Kottayam. It was an excellent fun filled trip. Twinker Rathul Kurian Jacob

My cricketing days with table...

I remember the days when I joined this great movement...for me it was a bunch of won-derful guys and their families which I stuck to. Travelling out was an option which I was not much keen on, even though I realised that it was an opportunity missed. Its later that I was fortunate enough to play a game of cricket in this move-ment. Cricket had always been a great passion for me from childhood. I could sacrifice anything for cricket. I was so happy that this movement also acknowledged cricket and it motivated me to be more involved in the table. If I remember , it was in the year 2001, I played my first match for the table along with KRT 79. It was a very close match that ended in a draw and I was awarded man of the match with a bottle of scotch from our Captian Raju Palambadam. From there I started playing for area team. Playing for the area was the best ex-

perience I had in my tabling career. I made won-derful friends across area. One such victim is my very good pal Rakesh Ramachandran from cochin 131....lol. My companion from our own table was our dear legy chayan who also had a great pas-sion for the game. Our journey together was un-forgettable......the fellowship in train, bus etc are moments I can relive. Apart from the fellowship, it was a great expe-rience for me to meet excellent cricketers from dif-ferent parts of the country. One such player I was fortunate to play with is our indian cricket team opening bats man Sadagopan Ramesh (pls note that we got him out for 19.....lol ). Other than him county cricketers, famous league players etc. The arrangements made by the hosts were excellent. The after match party was an-other event we enjoyed. Discussion about the

Page 13: Rubber yarn

13

lost match on top of few drinks was another ex-perience. Those discussions where people say “ if we could have done that way” “ if that catch was taken” “ if he had one more over” etc etc was of great debate. I am sure if Ian Chapel or Ravi Satri were there, they would have easily picked us up and placed us in the channel.. If it wasn’t for round table, I would have never got the opportunity to play in world class cricket fields. The grounds we played in Chennai, Banglore, Coimbatore was outstanding. A great loss we had was to lose the opportunity to play in Chinnaswamy stadium Chennai in the year 2012.....we lost the qualifying match by a whisker... i pray that i get one more chance... In the year 2012 I was very fortunate to be selected in round table national team. Our match was against Srilankan table in Colombo. This was definitely an opportunity for me to meet wonder-ful people from different parts of the country and abroad. The national president also joined us and we had great fellowship at colombo. Thanks to

Tr.Jabyson and Tr. Kitchu for accompanying me to Colombo. We had two straight wins against Srilan-ka and I was happy that i could bat well without being out for both matches...and was the second best player of the series. Soon after Legychayans term, 121 was fortu-nate to have tr. Twin and tr. Binu Joseph who shared the same passion and interest for cricket. Our first T20 win at Cochin was an outcome of that. Twin and Binu had no hesitation in travelling any where for cricket. They would take their families along and ensure it was also a family fellowship ...the way it has to be. Our new inductions to come, will strengthen our cricket team more because both these prospective are proven cricketers. My tabling career will end in a few years, and if anyone asked me the best I liked about ta-bling apart from meeting you wonderful guys will be cricket, cricket and cricket.....

PROLOGUE Joining Tabling – From the Children’s Point of View.

The Head of our Family is not a Tabler. She is just married to one. Before Joining the Ta-ble, Appa was the CHAIRman of the Family. He would sit on his favorite chair and order us around the whole day. It was Mum who bestowed the des-ignation of Chairman on him for obvious reasons. It was the same Amma who conned him into join-ing the Table. For your information, The RT was not Appa’s first attempt at Fellowship through Service. Earlier he was a LION. A very sozzled Ranny Lion indeed. Mom couldn’t digest the Lions, she pre-ferred Chicken. Mom kept murmuring that if the real wild lions ever heard of these unworthy im-postors, they would have certainly filed a defama-tion suit of the character assassination type. The Good Lord was quick to answer Ammas prayers and Appa’s infamous Lions club was dis-banded due to non-availability of sober office bearers.

Appa without a Club was like a monkey without a tail. No pun intended. All along mom had been keen on Tabling. But dear Pop would have none of it. He called it a Suit – Boot affair. The last time he wore a Suit was for his wedding, which by itself was the biggest mistake in his career, he claimed. He fortified his position by claiming that dancing was an integral part of Tabling. And Dancing, according to his definition was “a vertical expression of horizontal intentions” – whatever that means. But Mom was adamant – Operation Table Storm was launched. Amma was a descendant of Eve (Mrs. Adam) and applied the universal feminine rule of temptation followed by seduction and direct threat. She first tempted Pop by hinting that the Round Table would do wonders for his business. Pop replied that he was quite capable of screwing up his balance sheet without external support. – PERIOD Mom then tried to seduce Pop by hinting that Tablers as a rule had sexy wives. Pop nearly

THOSEWERETHEDAZE

Page 15: Rubber yarn

15

suffered a stroke because the blood rushed down from his brain. Mom beat a hasty retreat. PERIODMom’s next line of action was a direct threat that scared even us kids. She threatened to Join KRT 79’s Ladies Circle and prepare food from their ex-clusive recipe book. Pop said Amma was quite ca-pable of screwing up his appetite without external support. PERIOD. Finally when it looked like the MOTHER of all Battles would never persuade the FATHER of us children, in came the MESSIAH of FUN, FROLIC and FREAKOUTS. Our own dear T.K. uncle.Mom enlisted Thelma aunty and together they threatened T.K. uncle into joining the conspiracy against the family Saddam. Well, T.K. uncle quickly solved the problem.Called for a bottle or two. – Beat Appa by 24 pegs to 20. And Appa had no option but to say – If you can’t beat ‘em – Join ‘em.The rest as you know is History.

First Impressions. Circa -1992-93. The first thing I learned after my inebriat-ed decision to join the Round Table was that Black Ball was not a physical deformity or a racial slur. It had something to do with T.K. sponsoring me into KRTRT. The first thing that impressed me was the then Chairman Ronny Jo-seph Thomas’s performance. I am thinking how lucky our Table is having a Chairman at all. Without Chairman how we can say Cheers to ’79, ’69 and WOCOS. With-out saying Cheers, drinking is bad habit, Luke is telling. In English style clubs nobody is drinking without say-ing cheers, Ranjit is telling. Not to worry if T.K. chetan is around. He is always cheerfully drinking without worrying. To Chairman, To 79, To ’69, To WOCO. So fast. Glass is empty – So also bottle. I feel sorry for Chairman- Everybody practicing English bad

words on him At AGM. I am feeling to cry when I think of IPC and all past office bearers. Not be-cause they did lousy job. But because they are going anyway. I am fondly remembering Chair-man Ronny telling Titten, will you please propose Vote of thanks. And Titten always laughing saying ‘Thank you all for coming and going”. I am also fondly remembering Secretary John.V. Shaji. Poor man - So Cool – So calm. Never getting angry. Only boiling hot when wife shopping at Coonor. How kin I forget Treasurer Kuru-illa. Him not pay-ing fine and dues. Always saying put-it-into ac-count. The earth has gone around sun one time after I joined KRTRT. Looking back I am seeing very touching memories. The Area AGM at Kovalam, KGS pool parties, Onto Coonor, Phantom, Diana, scary business meetings, crazy socials, Birth of TBRT, Food Fest. What fun. Feeling like young fel-low at old age. Wife is thoroughly enjoying. But then wife is ALWAYS thoroughly enjoying. What to do? And children feeling on top of the world. YUP- that’s the Tabling feeling – ON TOP OF THE WORLD.After joining Tabling I am thumping big people on the back and even kicking ‘em on the ass. And getting away with it. Cos everyone close intimate friends. I am also finding communal harmony.

Page 16: Rubber yarn

16

Otherwise how one Murali can tolerate 21 pork eating, booze guzzling Nasranis. In my first year I learnt that all Tablers are gen-tlemen. Especially when we are discussing serious business matters. I am wondering if CEC Sheshan is Chicku bhai’s cousin. Otherwise why is Chicku always saying Secret Ballot – Secret Ballot? I am also learning how fledging democ-racy works in third world countries, because when election is lost by secret ballot on AGM date is-sue, Rules committee Chairman is saying election cancelled and then Ronny Chairman is quickly, quietly, firmly fixing date and saying GO TO HELL. Viva la Demo Crazy. Academically too I have improved af-ter joining 121. By playing that dumb DUBM CHARADES regularly, religiously for 12 socials, thanks to Fellowship convenor Tittens’ friend-ly video library, I am learning to understand the 12 O clock news for the deaf and dumb on the national channel. I only wish DD would put our Sheebas and Deepas instead of that dumb news reader. Also every night my wife and I are practicing dumb charades at home. Out of ne-cessity, mind you. Because children are getting old and curious. Very romantic.

Finally I must say that after one year of tabling, I learned to reed, right and Spick English be-cause Luke is having walking Encyclopedia, and Ranjit a very sexy volacalapury.

Turbulent Times –A.D. 1992 – 1997

It would take more than a 1000 pages to describe in detail my experiences at 121 where Tabling was ones First priority in life. . During the 90’s the Tablers at 121 were really talented in the art of “Training the Chairman”. Area Chairman – Tr. John “Kuttan “ Chakola seriously thought of send-ing all the Chairmen of Area-1 for at least one meeting at 121. He was confident that Area-1 will have 14 wiser Chairmen. The RTI hand book was our Bible and the likes of Sajeev knew it by heart. After Chairing about 14 meetings, I finally decided to read the Blue Book and in the process

stumbled upon a sentence that says – “the more the criticism – the greater the internal strength of the Table”. Needless to say – if that were true, 121 was the Hercules of RTI. After getting hammered meeting after meeting, Chicku gave me some consolation when he wrote in the editorial of Rubber Yarn – “ Chair-man – Though you may feel that KRTRT 121 is too democratic, you will be reminded in later years that it is only democracies which survive and not autocracies.”

Table meetings were very tough – At-tacks and counter attacks were pre planned and unleashed without partiality. Sometimes the fights would start spontaneously for no real reason ex-cept that Sajeev had 14 bottles of Beer and T.K. 15 bottles of Whisky. One poor unsuspecting visiting Tabler from Vizag was caught in one such scrap because he made the mistake of saying that Vi-sakhapatnam started with V while T.K. insisted that it was W. This serious issue was debated for three hours amidst threats and counter threats by the warring factions. Finally the issue was settled

Page 17: Rubber yarn

17

when Chairman Ravi’s gavel broke into tears and everyone agreed to disagree. The TEX could not afford to be compla-cent. Attendance was strict. Area Vice Chairman

Georgekutty and Southern Star Editor, yours truly, had their attendance cancelled because we dared to leave the Table at 8.25 PM to board the Trichy Express on our way to the AEX meeting at Trichy. Here I must mention Ranjit who had 100 % at-tendance at KRTRT meetings consistently for three years. To cut it short, I must say that I learned a lot from 121’s turbulent meetings. The best part was that once a decision was taken after heated debates, every single Tabler fell in line and worked sincerely to make the project a success. A perfect example is when we broke away from the Flower Show in the early days of Food Fest and decided to go on our own despite the odds. KRTRT 121 demonstrated that we only needed hard work, team work and a will to succeed against the odds. FELLOWSHIP had always been a strong point at Rubber Town. All Tablers who survived the business meeting were handed over to the Fellowship convener. It was a life and death matter for the Likes of T.K. who worked hard so hard and drank so much just to make sure that his stint as Fellowship convener was an unmitigated success. Ladies and children participated whole-

heartedly. It was fellowship that made 121 a unique family oriented Table. Participation at out-station Tabling events was almost 100 %. Almost every social had a theme and extra effort was

made to adhere to the theme dress code. With Manoj leading from the front, 121 were the reigning Skit champions at the Area, National and International levels. We didn’t participate to win. It was just that we loved to put up pathetic shows for the benefit of ordinary mortals from other Ta-bles. The secret of our success was that ideas and courage came from the barrel of the bottle in our great table.

Epilogue – Modern Day- 2011 AD.

We miss T.K. Life is a lesser place without him. But then all good things have to come to an end. The rest of us meet up at times. The mind is willing - body is weak syndrome has set in. But the spirit is still very much there. We remain good friends and we shall continue to be there for each other in times of happiness and sorrow. Thank you – 121-ers. Sq Lg Morley

HITS l All convenors were given full authority and discre-tion on their respective depart-ment. This move was reflected well in execution.

l Variety of food was the major focus. We had nearly 40 variety foods for the fest. We could bring people from Cali-cut to participate and the array of foods to choose from really made food fest worth visiting for all the four days

Another great edition of Food fest for Kottayam. As always, it was a great treat not only to the taste buds but also a great feast for the eyes. Very well coordinated and delivered. It has achieved record profits this year along with great positive publicity to the movement, Round Table. General convenor, Tr. Roopu Abraham talks about the hits and misses of food fest 2013.

Page 20: Rubber yarn

20

l Kid’s section was boosted with on and off the stage activities. More animated characters and a more hygienic amusement for kids were made.

l Ground work was exceptional. Extra labours were put for cleaning and special mention of Tr. Dr. Joseph on this de-partment as he did a great job. The path way was carpeted. This ensured more hygiene, neatness and good overall ambience. Waste pit was made larger in

size which stopped the overflow of waste water. Ground was well lit with extra light towers.

l Non food pavilion has been upgraded to larger size with good lighting. This ensured smooth out flow of custom-ers. Food stalls which didnt require water usage was shifted to the centre ground in the form of colourful pagodas. Stall variety with stall numbers were displayed at vari-ous points in the venue. This enabled the customers to identify the stalls according to their requirements.

l Tablers were divided into teams and were allotted 4 stalls each. All requirements for the allotted stalls were well attended by concern team members.

l 4 ticket counters were put to avoid long queues.

l Good quality trophies and mementos were bought from Cochin. Fair judgement was made to derive the awards.

Page 21: Rubber yarn

21

Looking to the Food Fest 2014 l Every year, Food fest has grown in size and quality. The appreciation has grown mainly due to the united efforts of the tablers. I would like to point out a few shortcoming that can be rectified in food fest 2014. l Menu display which has the names of the participants can be placed a little higher.Almost all the stalls are clean. But the backside can be better handled. The pits taken were adequate in size, but it is better if they are covered. l Common wash area has to be pro-

vided between stalls. This area should be neatly maintained and no encroachments should be al-lowed. l Pathway between the non food stalls were massive and can be reduced. Carpeting in the non-food stalls needs to be im-proved. l Entrance section needs to be gran-deur. It is recommended to look for a better pro-vider. l There should be a reporting system for the staff including the waste management team. l A well organised cooking competition would make the event interacting and might get more media publicity if you can cosponsor it with manorama. l Numbers needs to be posted on every stall so that they can be spotted easily by the cus-tomers. l The flavour of food fest lies in the vari-ety and quality of food that is served. Screening of participants will ensure a great blend for the best flavour.

“After short listing venues for the Family trip, I decided on the Sarovaram Resort, Vayalar. Exactly a month before the family meet I had my major Superman stunt at the CMS college ground & I did think that I would miss this trip but God willing I did make it to Vayalar. “Tabling is like a Roller Coaster Ride, where you enjoy the thrills of the UPS and the DOWNS and the SLOWS and the SPEEDS. And while you are still enjoying the thrills of the ride, before you realise it, the ride suddenly comes to an end”– Tr Jose Palathinkal (Kuttan) of TRT88 in his re-tirement speech.

Tabling, as he aptly described has its UPS & DOWNS and SLOWS & SPEEDS. There are DOS and DONTS in Tabling and in each Ta-ble. But whatever you do, even if you tend to err, your friends in Tabling will not abandon you. They will stick by you and support you and as-sist in bringing course corrections. This depth and sincerity of friendship is something unique that, I guess, is seen only in Tabling.

While we take great pride and feel re-ally privileged to be a part of this unique move-ment, we must also utilise the movement prop-

erly to get the fullest out of Tabling. Travelling out for events is an important aspect through which we get a broader perspective of Tabling and also get to make plenty of friends for life. Even after retirement, I continue to maintain my relation with these friends – and today I have a friend (or rather a whole family of friends) in almost all parts of the country and in certain countries outside India also. I have had to fall back on these friends, on very short no-tice, during certain personal emergencies. And these friends have proven to be the best people to depend and rely upon under any situation.

One person’s initiative (Louis Marches-si) resulted in the formation of this wonderful movement. And the ride across the years has been enjoyable for all of us who have boarded the vehicle. Behind every successful ride, be-sides the passengers who make the ride fruit-ful, there are drivers, navigators, conductors etc. who also contribute towards making it success-

DO YOUR BIT

Page 27: Rubber yarn

27

ful. We have to bear in mind that while we thor-oughly enjoy the ride that Tabling has to offer, we are duty bound to do our bit in the roles of driver, conductor, navigator etc. This has to be done by volunteering to take up leadership roles so that we contribute our time so that oth-ers can also enjoy the ride.

Majority of the Tablers of KRTRT121 maintain this balance by contributing towards these roles. That is why the Table is still one of the best Tables in Area-1. Continue to travel out for whatever events possible and never shy away from taking up responsibilities. This will contribute to the strength and vibrancy of KRTRT121 and the Tabling movement. And re-member that at the end of the day you as an individual will be the ultimate gainer.

Cheers !!

The best preparation for tommrrow is to do today’s work extremely well. This was the mantra KRTLC 86 followed throughout the organisation of our mega fundraiser. The result was evident in the IFB Lifestyle which took place on the 5th and 6th of October.

Lifestyle gets bigger and better with every year. In 2012, we witnessed a vibrant show with much fun and frolic making and the event has taken the hearts of whole of Kottayam. This year our chief guest of honour who inaugurated the show was Mrs.Nancy Mathew, a prominenet socialite and culinary expert

along with KRTRT 121 chairman Mr. Dinesh. The show exhibited paintings, clothes, jewel-ry, home décor, food and various other FMCG products which appealed to the public. Along with the masses, IFB Lifestyle got the attention of the media. Leading newspapers and local news channels gave lifestyle good coverage this year through articles and television broadcasts. The success of an event this big was only possible due to the whole hearted efforts of all our circlers and tablers who were always

Page 31: Rubber yarn

31

ready to lend us their helping hands. Each in-dividuals gave in their fullest irrespective of whether they worked in groups or alone and attended to all their responsibilities – roping in sponsors, canvassing , setting up stalls , check-ing the lights, sound system and the like. Our enthusiastic secretary Cr. Marya George and our Chairperson Cr. Ajitha Rony worked really hard to see that every detail was done to perfection.

This year we held a Flower Arrange-ment Competition on the second day of the show. We went through with it despite our

doubts of it taking off. But it turned out to be a huge success as it made our shopping gala all the more unique and eventful. Our participants ranged from school students to professional wedding planners making the judging bar ex-tremely tough. Out of our talented participants, the winner, a college student took home with her a microwave which was sponsored by our sq. leg Rony Kurian.

The closing ceremony involved an-nouncement of winners of the raffle tickets and prize distributions. Our best prize was spon-sored by one of our participants and it was a stunning wooden stool. And in all, lifestyle 2012 was a grand success and we look forward to or-ganizing many more fund raisers in the years to come for the betterment of the society and to support the vision of Ladies Circle India.

Happy Circling FromCr. Tanya Twin

My cousins Richelle and Rihanna came to Pallom for a day spend. We first played with Barbie and her friends in her vacation house. Richelle changed Barbie’s clothes, shoes and bags. Rihanna behaved very well. Then we jumped into the pool. We had a nice time with fishes, ducks, crocky and Barbie mermaid. We ate yummy biryani and then it as time for them to go. So Amma dropped us all of at Mattethra house and went shopping. There, Baby Appa took us on his bike for a ride and to another house to visit a baby boy. Amma came back and we went home. It was a great day. Gia Mariam George

We left early by car on Saturday to Chalakudy. I was sleeping most of the time in the car. We passed Athirampally water falls on the way. It was awesome. We saw a dam. Appa and some uncles cycled to Valparrai from there. We gave them juice and snacks when they wanted a break. We reached Valparrai in the evening. We had dinner in the tea factory and stayed in the cottages there. We had a bonfire. That was cozy. In the morning we had hot tea and breakfast. The food was yummy. Then we started to trek in the tea plantations. During the trek we saw many beautiful flowers, a bison and lots of different insects. We climbed to the top of the mountain. Appa, Amma, Philip, Mithran and I had so much fun. Suraj uncle took many photos of us. There were lots of leeches. I was so scared that they will bite me. After the trek, we drove back home to Kottayam.

Travelling was always my idea of fun, but travelling without the husband and only with friends was a dream come true. After much anticipation the day arrived (Our Circle Fel-lowship Trip to Colombo). All five of us (Cr. Ajitha, Cr. Chinnu, Cr. Marya, Past Cr. Sumi and myself) met at Nedumbassery and we felt like college girls again. We all joked about the things that we could do, and what we were going to wear etc over Su-mi’s delicious idli’s & chutney which she had so lovingly packed for breakfast. On boarding the flight we found that half of the Aircraft was occupied by Tablers from Al-leppy and Cochin. The flight took off on time and before we could relish our yoghurt it was time for touch down. Our hotel rooms were pleasant and after checking in at Colombo we went out for shopping, something we all collectively enjoyed. We had frantic calls from our husbands when we started using the credit cards when our dollars went low. Next our mind was “Eat Royalty” and yes, it was royal eating for the next two days. Steaks at Bavarian, Chinese at 88, the grand buffet at Cin-namon Grand etc- you name it we ate it!

The most delightful session was at our own rooms where we had extensive gossip ses-sions and we laughed and laughed till dawn. The topics ranged on everything between heaven and hell. A quick tour of the city the next day seemed to satisfy our need for tourism and then it was shopping again. I was especially glad that they had a shop named ‘XXL’ in Colombo. We made sure we were dressed for every occasion and glad that our better halves were not there to comment on how we looked but we received envious calls as and when we uploaded our snaps on Facebook. We ended the vacation with an evening at the beach and each of us had a great time flying kites which made us feel young again. On a final note, I would like to add that cir-cle fellowship trips must be encouraged as it helps us circlers to know each other better. Unity and bonding leads to lasting relationships and such trips sure help in this regard. So, until we meet again on Foreign shores…… Three cheers to KRTLC 86
