T h e Denis Burki t t F u n d was set up by his family in m e m o r y of Denis Burki t t , FRS, who died in 1993; it is admin i s te red by the Royal Society of Tropica l Medic ine and Hygiene.

One Fel lowship ( m a x i m u m value £ 7 0 0 0 ) or two separate Fel lowships (of £ 3 5 0 0 each) are awarded annual ly for pract ical t raining, travel, or direct assistance with a specific project (preferably cl inico-pathological , geographical or epidemiological s tudies of n o n - c o m m u n i c a b l e diseases in Africa).

Appl icat ions m u s t be m a d e at least six m o n t h s before the c o m m e n c e m e n t of the p roposed s tudy (by 15 M a r c h in each year). A shor t repor t on the s tudy should be submi t ted , wi th in 3 m o n t h s of the rec ip ient ' s re turn .
