Welcome to the Spring - Summer Season hereat the Exchange. Our programme is basedaround the theme WHO ARE YOU? In theseplays human identity is sculpted, manipulated, transformed, programmed, exotically disguised- extremely confusing and thoroughly malleable.By turns witty, nightmarish, farcical, abrasive, magical and incisive, all of them tell stories ofpeople trying to find their true identity in ashifting world.

In this brochure there is a special focus on The Studio, where we produce and presentwork that is new and different and encourageour audiences to participate and explore howwide the possibilities of theatre can be.

We would like to thank you all for your continued support of our work.

When Henry Higgins makes a bet with ColonelPickering that he can turn a cockney flower girlinto a lady, he sets out to change Eliza Doolittlecompletely and equip her for life in high society -but he reckons without the spirit and strength ofEliza herself in Bernard Shaw’s SPARKLING andBITING classic.

Stella’s kingdom is the wasteland on the edge ofthe woods and The Armchair is her castle. Somedays life feels like a battle. Her brother’s away, fighting for freedom, but she’s got his treasuredcollection of soldiers. And Worm. She has him too- and he usually does what he’s told. Just latelythough Stella and Worm have started to noticesome weird things. There’s definitely somethingwatching them. And it’s getting closer inAmanda Dalton’s TENDER and THOUGHT-PROVOKING play for young people*.

Take a look at the women in the picture. Their names areRachael and Lisa.

If they were in a show, can you imagine what kind of showit would be? What would the story be? Who would youchoose to play the main character? Who would you chooseto be the funny one?

Armed with a tape recorder, Rachael and Lisa went on tothe streets and asked people what they thought theirshow should be about.

What they heard and recorded was funny, heartfelt, sometimes staggering but always very very revealing aboutwhat we can (and can’t) imagine when we look at someone.
