Assist the pharmacist Enter patient information and data Dispense medication Compound specialty orders Prepare intravenous medication Patient care 4. PREREQUISITES H.S. Diploma or G.E.D. H.S. senior graduating end of year At least 18 years old (there are exceptions) Math (9th & 10th grade) English-written and verbal (7th grade reading level) Hand-to-eye coordination; finger agility Vision (normal or corrected) No prior criminal offenses**Drug testing and criminal background check for employment** 5. PROGRAM HOURS: 10575 hours of instruction in: Be introduced to various pharmacy practice settings Cover drug classes Basic anatomy & physiology Drug interactions Daily pharmacy activities30 hours of instruction in: Pharmacy math concepts Calculations Conversions 9th/10th grade math 6. INSTRUCTOR QUALIFICATIONS Licensed and Practicing Pharmacist with at least 2 years of experience Certified Pharmacy Technician with at least 2 years of experience Doctor of Pharmacy Candidate (3rd or 4th year) 7. Applicant must submit an application ($136) to the pharmacy board Training must be complete before registering as a technician Renewal biannually before applicants birthday ($51) Visit www.mass.gov to apply for pharmacy technician license High school diploma/G.E.D At least 16 years old Applicant must complete a board-approved training program Applicant must pass a board-approved exam. NO PRIOR CRIMINAL RECORD (especially drug or violent offenses) Cannot be delinquent on child support or student loans Honorably discharged from Armed Forces 10.
