using StoryBook Creator Plus software.

Day One:

Roses are red.Violets are blue.Sugar is sweet.And so are you.

1. The teacher will discuss the original “Roses Are Red” poem and also give several examples of variations of the poem.

Roses are blue.Violets are red.If you agree,

2. The students will open a new blank document.

3. The teacher and students will brainstorm the names of colors that contain one syllable. Students will then make a list of these examples in their word document.

4. The student’s will now type words that rhyme with the colors next to them.

5. The teacher will now demonstrate how to use the “fill in the blank” poetry lesson by Bruce Lansky.

6. The teacher will demonstrate how to create the entire poem using the list of colors and rhyming words.• Pick a color• Create last two lines by using one of the

rhyming words on list.

7. Students will begin creating their poems. Teacher will remind the students of the theme of the poems and that they should be written accordingly.

8. Students will save poem in folder when complete and print one copy for teacher.

While students are completing their poems, the teacher or students (depending on their age)will be taking digital photos of each student. All photo’s will be saved in a folder to access later.

Day Two

1. Teacher will demonstrate how to open StoryBook Creator Plus and set up a bland 4 x 6 layout.

2. Teacher will demonstrate how to drag and drop chosen paper onto 4 x 6 layout.

3. Teacher will demonstrate how to insert text box to insert poem and “Happy Mother’s Day/Father’s Day.

6. Teacher will demonstrate how to save layout and students will begin creating their own 4 x 6 layout using their poem and photo.

Day Three

1. Students will locate their saved card creation in their computer file and complete any unfinished work, check for mistakes, and print final copy.( For older groups, the teacher will demonstrate how to upload photo’s to photo provider.)

2. If time allows, the students may adhere their 4 x 6 print to a white card. The students can personalize the inside of the card with a handwritten message.
