Cleaning mode
3 cleaning modes:
Clean Mode – Roomba automatically
calculates the room size and adjusts its
cleaning time appropriately.
Spot Mode – Roomba will spiral approximately
3 feet (1 meter) in diameter and then spiral
back to where it started – an intense, localized
clean for those quick fixes.
Scheduled Cleaning Mode – Roomba leaves
its Home Base, cleans, and then returns to
recharge when it’s done.

Persistent Pass Cleaning Method
Employs a back and forth cleaning pattern to
apply elbow grease in areas where it senses
excessive dirt
Cleaning- features
Tangle-Free AeroForce™ Extractors
Dual counter-rotating extractors incorporate a durable rubber
tread design that grabs and breaks down dirt and debris from
any floor type.
Airflow Accelerator
The accelerator brings the vacuum power right down to the
floor surface, creating a sealed channel that concentrates the
airflow, drawing in more debris.
High-Efficiency Vacuum
A compact and efficient high-powered motor provides a five
times improvement in air power than previous Roomba
generations.

Virtual Wall (Both 770 and 870 have 2)
Virtual Walls create an invisible barrier that your Roomba won’t
cross. That makes it easy to confine it to a particular room or
area, and prevent it from getting too close to anything delicate
or dangerous.
Each Virtual Wall needs two C alkaline batteries (not
included).
You can set the Virtual Walls to block an opening of up to 7
feet (2 meters). It creates a cone shape barrier, so the
beam gradually gets wider.
For best results, place the Virtual Wall on the outside of the
doorway you want to block. Point the arrows on the top
towards the opening.
Virtual Wall mode: Roomba will not cross Virtual Wall beam
10
Virtual Wall
Manual Virtual Wall
Turn on a Manual Virtual Wall by hand at the beginning of
the cleaning cycle. It will shut off after 135 minutes. If the
power light blinks green, it means you’ll need new
batteries soon.
Auto Virtual Wall
When an Auto Virtual Wall is set to “AUTO” mode, the
power light continuously blinks to indicate it is on. When
battery levels are low, the Virtual Wall continuously blinks
twice to indicate that it needs new batteries. When in AUTO
mode, the batteries should last for around six months.
To save on batteries, just switch it to OFF
11
Virtual Wall Lighthouse (Standard with the 870)
In Lighthouse mode, it helps your Roomba navigate around
your home.
In Virtual Wall mode, it blocks off areas you don’t want
cleaned.
Simply use the Mode Selector to make your choice. Either
way, it turns on and off automatically as you turn your
Roomba on and off. When on, the light on top is lit.
Each Virtual Wall Lighthouse needs two C alkaline batteries
(not included).
A flashing power light means the batteries need replacing
soon
A Virtual Wall Lighthouse can act as both a Lighthouse and a Virtual Wall.

Roomba 770 Roomba 870
Even though all Roomba products are quiet enough for
you to sleep or watch TV while they are in use, the 870
model is even quieter than the 770 model. This can be a
great advantage for a consumer that seems to pick up
every single noise. It can also help to reduce anxiety of
pets that may get nervous with any sounds in the home.
Quieter
Model 870 is quieter than the 770 model
A robotic floor cleaner is certainly faster than
doing it on your own. However, the amount of
time it takes for the Roomba 870 to clean floors is
less than the Roomba 770. If you have large
flooring areas or the need to clean them often,
this is definitely a benefit you will be interested
in.
Faster
Model 870 can clean the average floor in about of the time that it takes for the 770 model to do the same job.
When you look at the physical appearance of the
Roomba 770 and the Roomba 870, they are very
similar. However, the 870 model has the ability to
clean better. This is due to an internal design
change offering a sealed channel. This results in
suction power that is 5x what the Roomba 770
offers!
Model 870
Cleans better
Both Roomba models go around and map out the
layout of the home. You don’t have to worry
about it damaging furniture or other items that
are in its path. These iRobots can memorize
patterns in your home. They can also learn new
patters so don’t worry if you rearrange furniture
or get new furniture.

maintenance due to the enhanced AeroForce
airflow.

Model 770
Less Maintenance
The design change of the Roomba 870
over the Roomba 770 also means you
empty it less often. The bristle free
system featured in the updated model
takes up less space than the previous
design.
Empty Less Often
Model 870 - The additional space has been used in the Roomba 870 model to offer a larger dust bin.
Model 770
It holds 60% more than the 770 model and that is
a remarkable improvement. The internal design
difference with this is that there is only one HEPA
filter with the upgraded model. The Roomba 770
features two filters.
Empty Less Often
Model 870 - the filter has to be replaced less frequently with the Roomba 870.
Model 770
An iRobot Roomba isn’t cheap, but it can be a
great investment for keeping your home clean
and saving you time. The Roomba 870 costs
about $600. The Roomba 770 retails for about
$479. These prices are based on average retail,
but sometimes you can find some great deals
online or in retail stores that will save you some
cash.
