His birth house (photo left) was his grandmothers farmhouse just outside of Concord, Massachusetts. He lived most of his life in Concord. Slide 5 Picture is of Henry David Thoreau as a young man. He entered college at 16 at Harvard University. He had a good sense of humor. He was intelligent. He liked to spend time by himself. He wanted all people to be free and treated equally. He went to jail for not paying taxes to fund the Mexican/ American war. This is Civil Disobedience. We probably wouldnt know a lot about the things Maria discovered if she didnt exist.
