Notes

1. This detail shall be installed only where the deck issupported by the outside wall.

2. This detail may be adapted to roof edges as shown inInterior Roof Drain Detail FD01.

3. Roof surfaces shall be sloped for positive drainage.

4. Attach wood nailer to wall with suitable fasteners.

5. Wood blocking shall be slotted for venting wet filleddecks.

FD05 Roof-Top Equipment Curb Detail

Notes

1. This detail allows for roof maintenance aroundsupported equipment. The continuous supportdesign shall be installed in light weight struc-tural systems so as to distribute the equipmentweight across two or more structural supportmembers. A min of 2’ of horizontal clearanceshall be provided for removal and replacementof roofing and flashing between parallel sup-ports. A min of 3’ of vertical clearance fromroof surface to bottom of supported equipmentshall be provided.

1. Soft metal pipe flashing:Minimum sheet lead of 2.25 lb per sq ft orMinimum sheet copper of 16 oz per sq ft

2. If using copper flashing over an iron or steelpipe, insert a separator sheet wrapped aroundpipe, to separate the copper flashing from directcontact with pipe so as to reduce galvanicreaction.

FD16 Roof Area Divider Detail

Notes

1. An area divider shall be designed as a raiseddouble wood member attached to a securelyfastened wood base plate that is anchored tothe roof deck. Area dividers shall be locatedbetween the roof ’s expansion joints at about150’ to 200’ intervals, depending uponclimatic conditions. Area dividers areprohibited from restricting the flow of water.

2. The flashing requirements are the same forboth sides of the area divider.

3. Attach the treated wood nailer to the deckwith suitable fasteners.
