Outdoor RF Repeater — Speedway Coverage

Weak signal area

Problems:Because of the shield of the mountains,obviously there is weak signal area andblind area along the speedway.

Solution:Install outdoor repeater to amplify signalreceived from BTS and cover the weaksignal area and blind area by use ofdirectional antenna (mobile antenna) toenlarge BTS coverage area.

Notices in integration:Outdoor repeater with high output power requiredhigh isolation to avoid self-excitation. Choose corner reflector antenna as mobile antenna andshort backfire antenna as donor antenna becauseof their good F/B to meet isolation requirement.Choose the best antenna location to make use ofhouse’s obstruction to increase the isolation between donor and mobile antenna.

Outdoor Repeater—Road coverage

Problems:The target coverage area is a mountainous area in the north Philippines.It is requiredfor road coverage with 2km radius inorder to make call even on the edge ofcoverage area.

Solution:The donor antenna receives signal fromBTS which is amplified by the outdoorrepeater to cover the service area bydirectional antenna.

Notices in integration:

Choose panel antenna as mobile antenna as well asparaboloid grid antenna as donor antenna with highgain and good F/B. Because antenna with high gainwill help to get maximum donor signal and withgood F/B will satisfy the requirement of isolation.

If it is necessary and possible, the repeater can be installed on the top of the tower according to the target coverage area.
