Red Lake Earth® (RLE) is mined from a naturally occurring mineral deposit in a pristine plateau located in beautiful British Columbia near Kamloops, Canada. RLE is composed of Diatomaceous Earth - skeletal remains of hard shelled fresh water organisms and Calcium Montmorillonite (Calcium Bentonite) - derived from

pre-historic weathered volcanic ash. Red Lake Earth® is Food Chemical Codex Grade, FDA Registration: 1037089530 registered throughout the US, GRAS (Generally Recognized As Safe) and OMRI® listed for use in all organic production.

Diatomaceous Earth (DE)is composed of the fossilized exoskeletons of tiny organisms known as diatoms.

• Filter/Pool Grade DE (Calcined) is treated at a high heat causing the natural amorphous silica in the DE to turn in to crystalline silica. Crystalline silica can be dangerous when inhaled or ingested. Calcined DE products may contain up to 70% crystalline silica.

• Amorphous DE (Non-Calcined) is prepared by drying at a low heat to prevent organic components from being lost. The delicate structural integrity of the diatoms is preserved by this careful process. The naturally occurring amorphous silica remains in its natural state and contains less than 1% crystalline silica.

Our Red Lake Diatomaceous Earth® is (Non-Calcined) and meets Food Chemical Codex Grade specifications and is registered to use in livestock feed as a flow aid.

Red Lake Earth® is registered for use as an anti-caking agent or flow aid in an amount not to exceed 2% of the total diet.

At a registered inclusion rate of .5% - 2% benefits have shown:

Poultry • Improved feed conversion• Lower mortality rates • Healthier birds • Improved weight gain • Improved shell quality

Cattle & Swine • Reduced manure odor• Reduced Hydrogen Sulfide• Reduced Methane (in vitro trials)

Laboratory Testing

Based on University testing Red Lake Earth® is shown to have many benefits to the poultry, cattle and other livestock industries when incorporated into the regular feed program and as an anti-caking agent and flow aid.

University of British Columbia Published Study - D. C. Bennett, A. Yee, Y.-J. Rhee, and K. M. Cheng (2011). Effect of diatomaceous earth on parasite load, egg production, and egg quality of free-range organic laying hens. Poultry Science, 90:1416–1426.

• Decreased internal parasite load in birds with lower resistance• Increased body weight• Increased feed consumption• Significantly less Northern Fowl Mites• Increased egg production• Larger eggs with more albumen and yolk• Increased egg shell weight and thickness

University of British Columbia & University of Alberta • Increased mineralization of cortical structural bone

POULTRYLaboratory Testing

Red Lake Diatomaceous Earth is currently only registered to be added to feed at a rate of 2% as a flow aid in both US and Canada. The amounts reported above 2% are for Research & Development purposes and are not approved rates by government regulatory agencies.

“Dietary Red Lake Earth was shown toimprove the growth and feed efficiencyof broiler chickens while numericallyreducing mortality.”-Dr. Classen

Broiler Study based on:Male broilers were fed a standard commercial ration with three treatment levels: .05%, 1%, and 2%. Results were compared against broilers that did not have Red Lake Earth added to their diet.

Red Lake Diatomaceous Earth is currently only registered to be added to feed at a rate of 2% as a flow aid in both US and Canada. The amounts reported above 2% are for Research & Development purposes and are not approved rates by government regulatory agencies.

Broiler Study results:• Mortality was decreased with increasing levels of RLE• Growth rate was maximum at the 1% level• Feed efficiency was best at the 0.5 % level

Laboratory TestingAflatoxin Reduction in Corn (Independent Study)

Test began with 923.8 g sample of ground corn meal that tested at 22 ppb for aflatoxin. Samples were split into 2 containers, each with 461.9 g of corn meal. Red Lake Earth® was then added to each of these containers - one at 2%, the other 4%.

Red Lake Diatomaceous Earth is currently only registered to be added to feed at a rate of 2% as a flow aid in both US and Canada. The amounts reported above 2% are for Research & Development purposes and are not approved rates by government regulatory agencies.

An additional test was conducted with Aflatoxin present in ground corn at 77 ppb. 2% Red Lake Diatomaceous Earth® Fines was added to the corn meal. Within a couple of hours, Aflatoxin dropped from 77 ppb to 10 ppb.

Laboratory TestingAflatoxin Reduction (in vitro) (Independent Study)

Red Lake Earth® was tested at four inclusion rates to determine its effectiveness in adsorbing Aflatoxin B1. The addition of each inclusion rate was examined at pH levels of 3 and 6.5.

Red Lake Diatomaceous Earth is currently only registered to be added to feed at a rate of 2% as a flow aid in both US and Canada. The amounts reported above 2% are for Research & Development purposes and are not approved rates by government regulatory agencies.
