RIPCHAIN is:

David Ford - Lead vocals, guitars

Rene ‘ Rampage’ Ramirez - Drums, backing vocals

Bobzilla - 4 string fretted & fretless bass, 8 string fretless bass, backing vocals

Born from the ashes of several local bands, RIPCHAIN was formed in 2004. With David Ford–vocals and guitar, Joff Stone–lead guitar, Dan Garrett–bass and Johnny Lane–drums, the idea was to bring to the

table old school thrash and blend it with current metal styles to createsomething familiar, yet unique–a brand of metal the band referred to then, and now as ‘Post-Modern Thrash’.

“Improvise, Adapt and Overcome!” The line by the Clint Eastwood characterSgt .Gunny Highway in the movie ‘Heartbreak Ridge’, is the inspiration to see beyond adversity for this band. While it may seem like a revolving door of band members, the attitude has always been to strengthen and allow the band to continue to grow. Painful, but essential to the survival of RIPCHAIN.

2005 found a line-up change with Ryan Anderson behind the skins. Ryan pounded the kit until 2007 when Tony Cornia joined the band. The 2010 year, saw the departure of Tony and long time bassist, Dan Garrett. Thevacancies were quickly filled with Jimmy Turner on bass and drummer Rene ‘Rampage’ Ramirez; both of ‘Aces & 8s’ fame. In 2012, Jimmy T left the band and Bob ‘zilla’ Davis (Bovalexia) stepped in to anchor the low end. During the course of recording Dying On The Vine, RIPCHAIN co-founder, Joff ‘Juggernaut’ Stone, stepped down, leaving a vacancy at lead guitar which has yet to be filled…

Throughout the years, as the band has gone through many line-up changes, management disputes, etc., one thing has always remained–The love for the metal. It’s the passion, the desire, the dedication that pushes the band to excel at their craft.

Today, RIPCHAIN find themselves blending multiple styles–including classic Bay-area & SoCal thrash metal(Metallica, Slayer) and NWOBHM (Iron Maiden, Judas Priest) of the 80’s with the current ‘East coast/West coast metal’ sound (Lamb of God, God Forbid, Prong), to the classic masters of metal, Black Sabbath, resulting in a sound that is distinctly their own.

RIPCHAIN’s high energy live show have established them a large fan base in their hometown (Boise, ID),throughout the northwest, and beyond. It’s this dedication and professionalism that have brought them to the stage, on many occasions as direct support, with recording artists–Static X, Winds of Plague, Prong, Otep,3 Inches of Blood, Burn Halo, Cage 9, Saliva, Nonpoint, Candlelight Red, Bobaflex and many more.

As of late 2013, RIPCHAIN released the album ‘Dying On The Vine’. A labour of love, recorded from September 2012 to July 2013, the long awaited album was engineered by a relatively unknown–Nathan Barnes of Osmosis Studio. His impressive skills behind the mixing console and attention to detail, captured the essence of RIPCHAIN. Famed master-ing engineer, Alan Douche - West West Side Music, put the finishing touches on an already stellar mix of molten metal. To date, the album has been well received by fans; old and new, and continues to bring new fans to the Chain.

Long Live Heavy Fucking Metal! \m/
