PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Quality Engineer - Space Exploration Technologies | May 2015 - Current Tooling Fabrication and Assembly

AS9100 - Quality Internal Auditor o Responsible for coordinating and facilitating internal audits, 3rd party audits,

Department of Defense audits and Office of Inspector General audits for the entire Tooling Fabrication department to include:

o Corrective action planning, problem solving, effectiveness and efficiency of operations and programs, review of effectivity post audits and follow-up action plans

o Ensuring that significant risks are assessed and appropriate mitigation measures identified and implemented

Material Review Board Quality Engineer o Primary MRB-QE for the entire Tooling fabrication department to include approving and

closing non-conforming reports, quality process improvements through project management and corrective/further actions procedures

o Approved and closed over 10,000 non-conformance reports for SpaceX since 2012 Certified in the concepts of 8D (8-disciplines of problem solving) and Lean Manufacturing

o Led a problem solving team of 5 Quality Engineers in the concepts of 8D to reduce wire harnessing “riding conditions” by 25% that were discovered during Dragon Spacecraft integration

Support Design for Manufacturability by participating in Preliminary Design Review (PDR) / Critical Design Review (CDR) to ensure design for quality (DFQ), design for manufacturability (DFM), risk quantification and mitigation, and that appropriate test validation methods and inspection techniques, including nondestructive evaluation methods, have been considered

Quality Management System - Level II Document Control Technical writing Quality Metrics and Data Processing thru trending of non-conformances and corrective actions Performs Root Cause Investigations to identify systemic deviations in an effort to reduce non-

conformance product yield and promote quality right first time Acting Supplier Quality Engineer for the Tooling Department and providing direct support for

supplier caused deviations from manufacturing requirements as they relate to GD&T Calibrated Tool Tracking Project (Metrology)

o Developed and designed a tracking system for all calibrated tools utilizing barcode scanning functionality

o The system allow calibrated tools to be checked in/out of inventory via barcode scanning and tracked thru daily reports and metrics

o As a result, tool control improved by 95%, lost or damaged tools were reduced to 5%, saving SpaceX upwards of $30K annually

Quality Engineer - Space Exploration Technologies | July 2012 - May 2015

Dragon Spacecraft Assembly and Integration

Responsible for the evaluation of product and process output data that drove improvements in manufacturing quality, while actively representing quality objectives in design and development teams

Developed and designed a GPS tracking system for non-conforming hardware utilizing barcode scanning in an effort to prevent non-conforming hardware from being misplaced or installed on flight hardware:

o Led a team of Business Analyst and Software Developers to design the requirements and implement the tracking system into production, post 1 year development and testing

o As a result, missing and lost hardware was reduced by 80% annually, saving SpaceX $1.5 million on labor cost and reducing risk of flight failure

Supported Production Process Audit/Improvement by assessing new processes for safety and product risks

Ensured adherence to QMS policy and procedures within the Dragon Spacecraft work center Developed criteria and built audits to identify process weaknesses Reviewed Engineering Masters (EM), Work Order (WO) instructions and drawings for

completeness and accuracy to company and industry standards Provided on-site Quality Engineering support for SpaceX launch campaigns at Cape Canaveral

and Vandenberg Air Force Base from January 2014 to April 2015 which aided in the successful launch of 7 missions

Provided detailed inspections of critical International Space Station cargo being loaded into the Dragon Spacecraft Assembly

o As a result, the Dragon Spacecraft successfully delivered critical HVAC replacement equipment, a spacesuit, science projects and food supplies to astronauts aboard the ISS

Quality Inspector - Space Exploration Technologies | May 2011 - July 2012

Dragon Spacecraft Assembly and Integration

Provided detailed in-process inspections on Dragon spacecraft electrical and mechanical assemblies, using detailed drawings, CAD models, and established processes to verify conformance to design requirements

Identified, documented, and resolved production non-conformances and test anomalies in accordance with prescribed procedures and pursued corrective actions as required

Communicated and helped resolve quality related issues as they relate to the Dragon spacecraft integration department

Supported Quality Management System policies and procedure documentation, assessed compliance to company and industry standards, initiate and led continual improvements and Lean Manufacturing initiatives

Supported detail part fabrication and design requirements for the Guidance Navigation and Control system for Dragon Spacecraft

Lead Quality Inspector for the Passive Attachment Berthing Mechanism team for NASA and Boeing on-site staff
