Modern Reog usually performed in several events such as weddings , circumcisions and National holidays . Art Reog Ponorogo consists of several series of 2 to 3 dances opening . The first dance is usually performed by a 6-8 guy valiantly with black clothes , with faces painted red . The dancers depict the brave lion.

Next is a dance performed by 6-8 girls who ride horses . In reog Traditionally, these dancers are usually played by male dancers dressed in women . This dance is called dance lesson braid or jathilan , which must be distinguished from other dances that lumping horse dance .

Other opening dance if there is usually a dance by a little boy who brought the funny scenes called Bujang Ganong or Ganongan .

After the opening dance finished , the new core scenes whose contents are displayed depend on the condition in which the art is displayed reog . When dealing with marriage, which is displayed is a love scene .

Jathilan ( front )Jathil hussar was and is one of the leading figures in Reog art . Jathilan is a dance depicting dexterity horsemen who were practicing on the horse . This dance is performed by dancers where the dancer with one another each pair . Dexterity and skill in battle on horseback or lost interest shown by the expression of the dancer. Jathilan was originally danced by men smooth , flawless -looking or similar to a beautiful woman . Dance motion is more likely to feminine .

Warok Ponorogo The main article for this section are : Warok" Warok " which comes from the word wewarah is a person who has a holy determination , provide guidance and protection unconditionally. Warok is a truly mastered both physically and spiritually .

The main article for this section are : sudden peacockBarongan ( sudden peacock ) is the most dominant dance equipment in the Reog Ponorogo . Sections include ; Tiger Head ( caplokan ) , made of a wooden frame , bamboo , rattan covered with tiger skin . Sudden peacock , the frame is made of bamboo and rattan as arranging a peacock feather to describe peacock feathers and bite are developing a string of beads - beads ( beads ) .
