Consequently, an even larger majority of

enforcement of copyright laws on the
Internet – thus speaking out against one of
the main goals of ACTA.

an overwhelming majority of 84.9% actively
controls the information available on them.

While such a large number actively controls
information, it seems Social Network
services do not make it very easy to do so:
Almost half (46.3%) say they do not feel
well informed about privacy options or the
terms of use.

Almost unanimous consent is reached on
one current EU proposal: The “right to be
forgotten”, i.e. the requirement for internet
services and social networks to delete all
user data upon the user’s request is
extremely popular among young people.

Social Media is not only used for private or
entertainment purposes, but also to get
involved in politics. Three out of four young
people say it is an important way for them
to get involved in politics.

Social Media is mainly used for receiving
information about politics. A considerable
number of young people also use it for
discussing political issues with others and
for signing petitions. Rarely do young
people get in touch with decision makers
using social media.

I use Social Media for the Following:
We regularly ask our respondents for their
general opinion on European integration.
While a clear majority favours stronger
integration, the number of those more
sceptic has been growing in our Polls.

Should more countries be able to join the
EU? This is another question we ask the
participants of the European Youth Polls
regularly. Compared to November 2011,
when there was a tie between positive and
negative opinions, there was a shift towards
a majority for further enlargement this time.
