Survey Results Analysis.

The results of my survey gave me a lot to think about and learn from. The first piece of useful information that I found was which music genre was most popular. This was useful because it helped explain other results like, why people bought certain magazines. For example Indie was the most popular genre which explains why Kerrang was the most popular magazine, as that is its focus.

The next important piece of information I gathered was about pricing. There was a clear message from my results that £2 was the maximum people would most likely pay for a magazine and if I had priced mine wrongly, no matter the content, people would not be interested in buying it.

Another part of my results was the information about where people get their music from. This unsurprisingly proved to be mostly the internet and meant that my magazine would have to have some kind of download offer to attract readers.

The last two sets of results where quite surprising for me. The first was the data on gigs and festivals. I was surprised at how few people actually attended these events as I thought it would be higher amongst such a young group. Also the data on where people hear about new music surprised me. For example I did not expect T.V and radio to be the primary source as I thought word of mouth and the internet would have replaced these “older” ways.
