Reston DistrictsWithin Reston Association boundaries, there are four districts, each anchored by a distinctive village center. Lake Anne/Tall Oaks with its plaza and Da Vinci inspired shops and homes, defines Mr. Simon's idea of a community gathering place. North Point is Reston's newest district, home to lake Newport and North Point Village Center. Hunters Woods/Dogwood was themed for the former horse and hunting events that preceded Reston. The cottages and nautical theme of South Lakes Village Center fit perfectly along the banks of Lake Thoreau.

As one of his seven goals for Reston, Mr. Simon said that art should be available from the beginning and not added years later. He also said art should be accessible, imaginative and evoke a sense of whimsy.

The Initiative for Public Art — Reston created the first master plan in the country for an unincorporated community. IPAR's growing inventory of public art and information about the organization's projects in development can be found on its website, www.publicartreston.org.
