Page 2: Researching the conventions of magazines

Basic Black Masthead writing.

Keeping it simple.

Reoccurring colours, Red, Yellow, Blue &

Green.

Title is a nice size and top centred

which means that it is one of the

main focuses of the magazines.

The Masthead is colourful and very fun, the colours

however are very unisex. So this shows that the magazine is for both male and

female.

The colours however show that this magazine is very

transferrable because although it caters for people that are fun,

colourful and very hypo, the picture on the cover is of someone who raps and

focusses on RnB

The Masthead is very consistent it uses the same design for the title over all of the covers of the magazines.

Barcodes on the magazine are either usually on the top of the magazine or

the bottom. Also they usually include a date of the magazine, the issue

number and the price of the magazine.

Promotional slogan on the front of the magazine grabs the readers attention as well as advertising the latest news and competitions.

Front CoverDesign of the colours of the background

matches the model on the front cover. So

Katy Perry looks very girly and is covered in

flowers & the background is pink

and girly.

The main picture is

usually the main feature

article. Medium close up/mid shot pictures are usually used and featured on the front of the magazine cover.

When looking at the appeal this has on the audience, we see that the front cover is girly

and fun. This also appeals to girls and women who are into

pop music etc.

Handful of cover lines from the

magazine. Placed accordingly on the

front cover.

Contents Page Magazine title is

consistent on each page.

Masthead of the page: ‘Contents’ Big, Black, Bold writing.

Main image of the contents page. Means that it is another feature story. It will also tell you the page number of where it can be found. Issue number and page number.

Repeat contents feature of the chart lists. After looking at other contents pages of the same magazine it shows that they are the same.

Sub Headings for each article, this also

shows an insight underneath to what the article is actually about. Next to this is the page numbers in which you will find it.

The contents page also uses pictures of the articles previews to show what is also in the magazine. This also includes page numbers.
