Phthalates is used to soften plastic and
improve consistency of cosmetics
Chemical commonly found in children's
toys, make up, cars and PVC flooring
Could cause breast cancer, asthma,
infertility and birth defects, WHO says
Chemicals found in every home may cause breast cancer, asthma, infertility and birth defects,
global health chiefs said yesterday.
They warn the gender-bending compounds – used in toys, PVC flooring, car dashboards and
credit cards – have ‘serious implications’ for health.
In a landmark report, the World Health Organisation suggested a ban might be needed to
protect future generations.
It says it is ‘reasonable to suspect’ chemical substances called phthalates of harming female
fertility and linked them with rising rates of childhood illnesses including leukaemia.
Possible danger: Chemical phthalates is used to soften plastics and can be found in
children's toys
Also under suspicion is bisphenol A, which is found in a host of daily items including tin
cans and sunglasses.
The man-made compounds are thought to interfere with the natural hormones that are key to
2
our growth, development and overall health.
The WHO said there was ‘very strong evidence’ in animals they can interfere with thyroid
hormones – something that can cause brain damage, stunted intelligence, attention deficit
hyperactivity disorder and autism.
For prostate cancer ‘significant evidence’ exists of a link with agricultural pesticides.
And there was some evidence linking exposure in pregnancy to weight gain in infants and
children and potential links to breast cancer.
In the same report ten years ago, the UN agency said there was only ‘weak evidence ’ that
gender-bending chemicals were harming human health.
Declaring the chemicals a global threat, the new report’s authors said humans and animals
were exposed to hundreds of compounds, many of which have yet to be identified or properly
studied.
Some are inhaled in dust, others make their way into our bodies from food or simply licking
our fingers.
The WHO stops short of saying the chemicals actually caused the illnesses but did say that in
some cases, the evidence was very strong.
The report – State of the Science of Endocrine-Disrupting Chemicals – is the most
comprehensive of its kind because rather than focusing on one chemical or one illness, it
evaluates all the evidence.
It says: ‘The diverse systems affected by endocrine-disrupting chemicals likely include all
hormonal systems and range from those controlling development and function of
reproductive organs to the tissues and organs regulating metabolism and satiety.
‘Effects on these systems can lead to obesity, infertility or reduced fertility, learning and
memory difficulties, adult-onset diabetes or cardiovascular disease, as well as a variety of
other diseases.’

Report: The compounds, also found in PVC floors, can have 'serious implications' the
World Health Organisation warned
4
Daily risks: The dangerous chemical is found in many objects we touch without bare
hand every day, such as credit cards and car dashboards
Worryingly, it warns the chemicals assessed so far by scientists may only be the ‘tip of the
iceberg’ – and there could be many other potentially harmful compounds out there.
It cautions that the key role of hormones in the development of tissues and organs means that
unborn babies and young children may be particularly vulnerable.
The report – written over two years by international experts who collated and weighted
scientific studies on the topic – also states the rise in some conditions is too rapid to be
blamed on genes alone.
‘The prevalence of paediatric asthma has more than doubled over the past 20 years and is
now the leading cause of child hospitalisations and school absenteeism,’ it said. ‘Certain birth
defects, such as those of the male reproductive organs are on the rise. The incidence of
paediatric leukaemia and brain cancer have risen, as has the incidence of testicular cancer.
These are stark health statistics.’
The WHO says wildlife is also at risk and calls for much more research into the chemicals
and their effects – and says that there may be a case for banning or restricting them.
Dr Maria Neira, the WHO’s director for public health and environment, said: ‘The latest
science shows that communities around the globe are being exposed to endocrine-disrupting
chemicals and their associated risks. We all have a responsibility to protect future
generations.’
Elizabeth Salter Green, of the campaign group CHEM Trust, said the EU was trying to
tighten up the regulation of gender-bending chemicals but the UK was in favour of the least
stringent measures.
5
She added: ‘This report bears testimony to the on-going failure of regulatory agencies to
reduce exposure to hormone disrupting chemicals, which are implicated in the increased rates
of hormone-related cancers and other diseases.
‘Thankfully, the EU is now trying to come to agreement on how to identify such hormone
disrupting chemicals, so that they can be effectively regulated, but unfortunately the UK is
trying to thwart this process in a bid to limit the number of chemicals that will fall under the
regulatory axe.’
The Chemical Industries Association said it was important to note that naturally-occurring
substances in beer, chocolate and coffee can have more powerful effects on the body’s
hormones than man-made chemicals.

POISONED
by Heavy Metals such as
Mercury, Lead, and Aluminum
Many people today suffer from what is often broadly referred to as "heavy metal toxicity."
The most common source of toxicity is mercury from dental fillings. When the so-called
"silver" fillings are put in the teeth, they are roughly 49-53% mercury. The filling is an
amalgam that contains some silver and other metals as well as what is for some people a
lethal amount of mercury. To determine the extent of possible mercury poisoning, studies
were conducted on sheep. The fillings were removed after six months and found to contain
only about a fifth of the mercury that was present when the fillings were first put into the
teeth. The rest of the mercury had leeched and was found in significant concentrations in the
brain and small intestines, though the liver and kidneys and lungs were also repositories for
the mercury.
Since 1988, the Environmental Protection Agency has required dentists to treat amalgam
fillings that are removed as hazardous waste. However, the various regulatory agencies as
well as American Dental Association insist that putting “hazardous waste” in the mouth is
safe.
Warnings
I have known about the dangers of heavy metal poisoning for many years. My grandfather
was a metallurgist and warned our family to avoid mercury and never to use aluminum.
My mother had only porcelain dental restorations but for some reason the same precautions
had not been used with me . . . despite the admonitions to avoid amalgams as well as
aluminum cookware and even food packaged in aluminum. The studies supporting my
grandfather's knowledge began to appear thirty or more years ago, and, in some countries,
such as Germany and Sweden, the governments are paying for mercury removal. However,
in the United States, dentists in some states still face prison sentences for suggesting to
6
their patients that removal of amalgams might improve their health. Amalgams can, of
course, always be replaced for cosmetic reasons.
Duluth, Minnesota, was the first to prohibit mercury amalgams and California disbanded
the dental board with instructions to dentists to get their acts together. Meanwhile, the
legislature passed some sensible laws restricting the use of mercury restorations.
Medical Issues
Insistence on the safety of amalgams is not just nonsense, but criminally irresponsible.
For many people, mercury is a very significant cause of ill health. Symptoms range from
muscle spasms to severe neurological problems such as paralysis and memory loss.
Advice from Dentists
The dentist who took over the practice discussed a number of cases of spontaneous
remissions of cancer following mercury amalgam removal
When the metals are present, they tend to interfere with synaptic responses. They also
aggravate the tendency towards free radical toxicity which, in turn, affects many other
physiological functions, most especially in the intestines. Perhaps most important of all,
metal toxicity impairs immunity.

01.03.13 From Peter Brave-Heart about personal HEAVY METAL poisoning
My health. I have quite a few afflictions, but I am convinced that they all
probably have a root cause. In my case it is probably mercury fillings in my
teeth. When I was young, that is by the time I was 21., I had 30 mercury fillings
in my teeth. CRAZY, really CRAZY! It is only in the past 10 years that dentists
have taken seriously the DAMAGE caused by mercury fillings in the teeth.
About one year and a half ago, as a missionary, I received in prophecy, that I
should make more of an effort, and remove all of my fillings, and change them
for white fillings. So I removed 17 of them, and have just 2 left to change. In
the meantime I ran out of extra money! I am very thankful to have removed
most of them. However at the same time that I started removing the fillings, I
suddenly got very sick and had to go to hospital for 5 days with extreme
anaemia, blood count only 6.0. At the time the doctors gave me 4 blood
transfusions, but could not find the cause of the "blood loss" problem.
However there is another side to this story! By doing research and counter
research, we had found out by the time that I started removing the mercury
7
fillings, that is could be dangerous to remove so many fillings in total, without
having a strong MERCURY agent to remove mercury from the blood and
organs. I removed around 4 each time over a 6 month period. We have
discovered that the very best natural agents are CHLORELLA (a super-food),
which actually attaches itself to heavy metals and pulls them out of the body,
and Chinese parsley, which loosens up the heavy metals in the body.
A lot of the symptoms I have in my body are listed as possibly caused by
mercury poisoning.
Last year whilst starting the Mercury fillings removal, I started also to take the
chlorella. Unfortunately a month later I was in hospital with severe anaemia.
What does that suggest? In my case somehow the Chlorella which is only
supposed to remove the heavy metals, was actually removing the iron from my
body as well, thus causing the anaemia. Now don't get me wrong in a normal
person this would not have happened. I now take blood tests every few
months to be on the safe side. The doctor tells me that my haemoglobin count
is now normal, but that my body has a problem keeping iron in the blood, and
that the iron amount is still low, around 15. Normal is from 25-300 counts.
This makes it very difficult for me to get rid of the MERCURY out of my body,
without getting sick with severe anaemia. After being in hospital last year, a
few months later, I developed very painful tennis elbow in both arms, for no
particular reason. That went away for about 8 months, and recently came back
again, but not quite as severe as the first time, but still very painful sometimes,
and enough to stop me sleeping. DUE TO EVERYONE'S PRAYERS MY ELBOW'S
ARE CURRENTLY MUCH BETTER! So a big THANK YOU to everyone for your
prayers.
After those above mentioned episodes last year, I then thought to RESUME
taking the CHLORELLA, as I was starting to resume the tooth fillings extraction.
This time my body knew better, and I would get violently sick, I mean very
violently sick every time that I tried to take Chlorella, even only half a
teaspoon.
Well that sort of put me off the DE-TOXING the heavy metals in my body. In
hindsight I can see that that was the wrong decision. We have since learnt that
some naturalists are of the opinion that the people who get violently sick
taking Chlorella, are those who are very poisoned by mercury.
So at present I am in a very difficult situation. I don't feel very well in my head
8
(foggy brain), the doctors can't help me, as they don't even recognise mercury
poisoning. My family don't want me to end up in hospital again, and I just want
to get rid of the MERCURY, as it has been proved that those who make the
tough journey to rid themselves of heavy metal poisoning, within 2 years
their health has been known to drastically improve.
I believe this to be true. Right now we are starting again to REMOVE the
mercury. If it turns out to be 100% true and accurate then I will write a book
about it, to help others know about the extreme dangers of mercury poisoning,
through fillings in the teeth. I am told that more than 2-3 mercury fillings is
dangerous. At one time I had as many as 30. It is a miracle that I am alive
today, writing this, and only His Grace and Mercy, and because of the prayers
of others.

Hair dyes used by millions of women are linked to chemicals
that can cause cancer
Secondary amines can be found in hair dyes used by millions of Britons
Both home colouring kits and salon dye can contain chemicals
Could react with smoke and fumes and form highly poisonous chemicals
By Fiona Macrae
February 2013
Hair dyes used by millions of women contain chemicals linked to cancer,
British scientists have warned.
They say that both home hair colouring kits and the dyes used at expensive
salons pose a potential risk to health.
9
Writing in a respected scientific journal, they say chemicals in permanent
hair dyes can react with tobacco smoke and other pollutants in the air to form
one of the most powerful cancer-causing compounds known to man.
High risk beauty: The hair dye chemicals could react with tobacco smoke and exhaust fumes,
to form highly poisonous chemicals called N-nitrosamines
With more than a third of women and one in ten men regularly colouring
their hair, the researchers say it is ‘imperative’ that the risk to health is
quantified.
However, the cosmetics industry has strongly disputed the claim.
The warning comes from scientists at Leeds-based company Green
Chemicals who conducted a review of the chemistry surrounding hair dye.
They said that all the information was already available and they simply
‘joined the dots’ to make the link with cancer.
10
They warn that chemicals called secondary amines, which are either found in
all permanent hair dyes or are formed in them, can penetrate the skin and stay
on the hair for weeks, months or even years after the dye is applied.
Over time, they could react with tobacco smoke and exhaust fumes, to form
highly poisonous chemicals called N-nitrosamines.
Unsafe: Even dyes used at expensive salons can contain the dangerous chemicals
Known to cause cancer, these are banned from use in cosmetics.
But the Leeds researchers argue that they can still be generated via a simple
chemical reaction.
Hair dye has previously been linked to a range of cancers, including
tumours of the breast, bladder, ovaries and brain and leukaemia.
11
There are also concerns that increasing numbers of people are becoming
allergic to their contents, sometimes with fatal results.
The sale of home hair dye kits alone is worth an estimated £321million a year
and the figure is expected to rise as the population ages.
Professor David Lewis, one of the authors of the study, and an expert in the
chemistry of various dyes, said: ‘At this stage, we can’t be sure of the amount
of N-nitrosamines produced or the level of risk these compounds pose but it
is clear a potential hazard exists.
‘In the interest of consumer safety, it is imperative that a thorough and
independent investigation is conducted to establish the levels of toxicity of
these compounds and the potential risks.’
A spokesman for Green Chemicals, which is about to launch its own ‘ultra-
safe’ range of hair dyes, said that despite numerous studies of the subject the
danger posed by the chemicals in hair dye reacting with the air has been
missed or ignored until now.
But manufacturers insisted that the possibility of the chemical reaction has
been long known.
Dr Emma Meredith, of the Cosmetic, Toiletry & Perfumery Association, said
the law forbids using secondary amines in a form that can react in this way.
George Hammer, the owner of Urban Retreat at Harrods, the world’s largest
hair and beauty salon, said: ‘Chemical companies have a huge vested interest
in keeping this under wraps.’
The warning is set out in the journal Materials.
In 2009 the Mail revealed that women who use hair dyes more than nine
times a year have a 60 per cent greater risk of contracting blood cancer. A
year later the European Commission banned 22 hair dyes which put long
term users at risk of bladder cancer.
