A good example of Hill’s involvement with renewable energy projects is our relationship with Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP). LADWP is the largest municipally-owned utility in the nation providing water and electricity to more than 3.8 million residents and businesses in a 464 square mile area. LADWP’s operations are financed solely by the sale of water and electric services. The Board of Water and Power Commissioners adopted a more aggressive implementation of its Renewable Portfolio Standard (RPS) Program to meet a goal of 20% renewable energy mix by 2010 and a goal of 35% by 2020. To help accomplish these ambitious goals, the LADWP turned to Hill International to assist with contract administration, construction management, project controls, estimating, design reviews, operating procedures, commissioning, and training.
