REMEMBER

We wear a uniform because we are all part of the same TEAM

Also, we wear a uniform so that we are all equally equipped to meet the challenges that are laid

before us each and every day

A POLO shirt and JUMPERA polo shirt and jumper is all that is required!

On a hot day you may choose not to wear your sweatshirt. But, unless the weather is very warm, you are expected to have your sweatshirt with you at all times. On a very cold day you may also choose to wear a white T-shirt under your polo shirt.

If a coat is required it should be ‘fit for purpose’ i.e. waterproof and able to keep you warm. Sweatshirt, hoodies and other forms of additional layers are not acceptable substitutes.

This guidance applies to ALL students

Trousers...for lads and lasses!

Everyone is allowed to wear trousers! Notice that they are black and ‘formal’.

This means the trousers are designed to be worn in places like school or at work.

Trousers...for lads and lasses!

Occasionally students try to get away with leggings, a plain black pair of jeans...or even plain black ‘skinny’ jeans.

These ‘informal’ styles of trouser are NOT APPROPRIATE OR ALLOWED.

What makes a jean a jean?

• 4/5 pockets•A denim type of material•Studs on the pockets•Brand labels on the waistband•A number of different styles•An informal style

Trousers...for lads and lasses!

Tracksuit bottoms are NOT appropriate.

Tracksuit trousers are designed for sport and recreation…not for learning in class!

Skirts...for lads and lasses!

Girls may choose to wear a near knee length plain black ‘formal’ skirt instead of trousers.

Tight short skirts are not acceptable.

BeltsClearly, there may be times when you need to use a belt. Worn properly belts can reduce those embarrassing moments.

However, belts are not to be worn as a fashion accessories. The belt you wear must fit through the belt loops of your trousers and must be a dark colour.

Shoes

Students can wear ‘plain black leather shoes’.

Outdoor Coats, Cardies & Hoodies

We DO NOT wear cardies or hoodies as a replacement for our sweatshirts. Coats should be ‘fit for purpose’ i.e. waterproof and able to keep you warm. Garments styled as cardies or hoodies should fit on top of your polo shirt and sweatshirt. Coats should only be worn when the weather is cold or wet.

As for the rest…

We know that many students want to change something about their appearance so that they can create their own identity. For example wear a particular piece of jewellery, tie their hair in a

particular way or even use some makeup.

The bottom-line is that whatever you do you please keep jewellery and make-up discreet and

appropriate for a work environment.

The moral of the story is...

Do not ask your parents to buy you uniform that you know is not allowed.

You will waste valuable money and time because non-uniform items of clothing will have to be replaced.

Don’t try and get away with it in school. It will increase the time we have to spend talking about inappropriate uniform and reduce the time we can spend talking about learning and other fun stuff!

However...

Please let your student council representatives know if you have any comments about our school uniform.

It is their responsibility to raise the issues you have at Student Council meetings. Here they will be discussed and changes may be made.
