Response

Humbug was well received by critics many saying that it was their best album yet. Billboards stated that the band, ‘justifies the hype by shifting it’s best qualities into different, equally dazzling shapes’.

Although it received mostly positive reviews, some criticised the album for not containing some of the hooks and cleaver lyrics which the band became known for, with Spin calling the album ‘accomplished but not particularly infectious’

Festivals

To promote their album Arctic monkeys appeared as headlining acts at Reading and Leads. This gave audiences a chance to hear some of the tracks before buying the CD and allowed them to sell their music to people who maybe wouldn’t have otherwise brought it. By doing these festivals it drove their sales up and gave them a chance to see what reaction it is getting from the audiences. Which turned out to be very positive.
