1 Introduction
Nemo Handy-S 3.60 is a state-of-the-art handheld tool for testing mobile application
QoS/QoE and measuring the air interface of EGSM, GPRS, EDGE, WCDMA, HSDPA,HSUPA, and Wi-Fi 802b/g wireless networks. Nemo Handy-S’s extensive application
testing features are complete with voice quality MOS and PESQ testing, and full
application level metrics on voice and video calls, FTP/HTTP data transfers, iPerf for
TCP/UDP testing, HTML/WAP browsing, SMS/MMS messaging, e-mail POP3/SMTP, and
ping. Nemo Handy-S not only provides you with the best real-time measurement
visualization on the handheld market, it also enables you to build your own custom real-
time views for all the relevant network parameters supported by the terminal’s mobile traceinterface. Supported terminals include Nokia 6720, 6720US, N85, N85US, N96, N96US,
N97, N97US, C5-00, C5-00.2, C5-03, C5-03 NAM, C7, E7, and Nokia 500.
Nemo Handy-S measurement data provides you with a complete and detailed picture of
the radio interface and the quality of the tested applications. The detailed and
comprehensive radio interface data recorded with Nemo Handy-S is optimal for network
planning, roll-out, tuning, verification, optimization, and maintenance. The application
performance metrics are vital in mobile service benchmarking and QoS/QoE evaluation.
Continuous recording of radio interface metrics ensures that the reasons for less than
satisfactory service quality can always be found.
Nemo Handy-S can be used either as a regular phone with the application logging in the
background, or as an active measurement tool with real-time data views and a built-in
script editor that enables you to create and modify scripts on the go. Nemo Handy-S's
small size and extensive measurement capabilities make it also the ideal tool for
performing indoor measurements. Nemo Handy-S logs and displays geographical
coordinates when equipped with a GPS receiver. With the Multi Handy-S option up to
seven (7) terminals can be configured to carry out coordinated measurements
simultaneously by operating a single terminal. The Multi Handy-S solution comprises one
Nemo Handy-S terminal which acts as the Master unit, 1-6 Slave units, and one GPS
receiver shared among all units. The Master unit controls and coordinates the Slaves
through scripts that are sent to the Slaves via a Bluetooth connection.
All network parameters supported by the terminal’s mobile trace interface, including
signaling messages, are logged and made available for playback with Nemo Handy-S and

Nemo Outdoor, and for post-processing with Nemo Analyze. However, Nemo Handy-S’s
full and proven compatibility with third-party tools enables also post-processing with any
other tool supporting the Nemo file format.

3 New Features
3.1 Intra and Inter-RAT Handover Forcing/Suppression via
Measurement Biasing
Measurement biasing is a new optional feature added in Nemo Handy-S 3.60. It enables
users to bias the serving and neighbor cell measurement results that the terminal is
reporting to the network. Therefore, it can be used to facilitate a handover to a neighboring
cell in the same or different system/UMTS carrier. Pictures below illustrate the feature.

4 Compatibility
4.1 Nemo Tools
Nemo Handy-S 3.60 writes log files according to Nemo file format v.2.14. Full support for
Nemo Handy-S 3.60 log files is available with Nemo Analyze version 6.3 and Nemo
Outdoor version 6.3. The following Nemo Handy Utility software are compatible with Nemo
Handy-S 3.60:
Nemo File Manager 3.1.15 or later
Nemo Handy Configuration Editor 3.40.36
Nemo Handy Script Editor 1.15.13
5 Installation
5.1 First Time Installation
Install Nemo Handy-S by connecting the phone via cable or Bluetooth to your computer.
You can also copy the installation files to your memory card, e.g. using a memory card
reader (run the installation using the phone File Manager).

Handy-S installation consists of Nemo Handy-S 3.xx and Nemo Handy License installation
files.
5.2 Upgrade from Older Versions
The old version of Nemo Handy-S needs to be uninstalled (removed) before the
installation of the new version. Restart the terminal after removing the old Nemo Handy-S
version. The application can be uninstalled using the Application Manager in the Settings
or Applications menu. After this you can install normally.

6 Known Issues
Uplink audio volume only affects the local volume
If no APNs exist, changing the APN will crash Nemo Handy-S.
The sent SMS MSGS lacks message reference value (set to -1)
HSDPA MAC throughput includes padding
Complex web pages might cause instability in HTML testing
Nokia 6720 shows serving cell among neighbor cells (= same cell shown twice).
Problem is in the phone firmware (NTM)
Sending custom window view with Nokia N97 might cause a failure
C5-03/04: When making voice calls, phone key lock is activated and user needs to
manually unlock the phone using the unlock switch. This is a phone feature.
Multi Handy: If the master terminal does not find all slaves during pairing, it is
recommended to power cycle all terminals
Changing GPS does not work properly. To be able to switch GPS, the old device
needs to be turned off before a new GPS can be connected. This issue will be fixed
to the next Handy-S version.
Due to incompatibility issues in Symbian^3 OS, Video Quality testing is not
supported in Nokia C7-00 and E7
C5-03, C7, and E7 do not support video call
UMTS carrier lock does not work properly. When carrier lock is used, the UE does
not follow the measurement control messages sent by network, instead it ignores
this information and uses the information read from system broadcast of the serving
cell in which the connection is initiated. Depending of the system info (mainly
SIB11) the behavior varies.
C5-03/multi slave only: focus does not stay in 'Multihandy slave connected' page.
Handy is hidden when phone lights are timed out.
