Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn. Romans 12:15

Rejoice always, pray continually, 1 Thessalonians 5:15-17

really made us proud with their wonderful acting in Robin and the Sherwood

Hoodies. They were ably supported by and with the singing and

dancing and we think that this new format – where every child in our school features

in a production every year – is a real hit!

Thank you to all of the adults that made it possible:

and everyone who contributed behind the scenes and with costumes. But,

of course, the real thank you must be to the stars of the show – the children! Here

are some pictures from the performance to the rest of the school…

also said goodbye to the school with a fabulous trip to – – on the . It was an

epic adventure for all 27 children and the staff (thank you so much , and !). A giant

swing, kayaking, trapeze, sensory trails and climbing were just some of the wonderful activities where children were

able to conquer their fears and bond as a whole year 6 team. And the World Cup Drama was good fun too!

And we can’t not mention the fabulous SATs results – your hard work and sheer determination certainly paid off!

Thank you for being a wonderful Year group – you’ve certainly come a very long way! We wish you every

success in your new schools – do come and visit!

It was lovely to see so many people (children, parents, grandparents, Governors and staff) cram into the hall for our

. Here we discussed our vision and values and reviewed the ending academic year before looking

forward to next year. There were so many positives drawn from the year with children and parents pleased about

Sports Day, our Vision and Values, After School Clubs, Trips,

John Gilbert, Productions and many more things! Looking to

the future, there were suggestions about utilising our

wonderful grounds more for outdoor learning, improving the

toilets and having more PE lessons and having different PE

tops for the different houses. All of the suggestions will be

considered and matched up to our School Development Plan

for 2018-2019 to make this school an even better place for

our children to feel , and .

One of the improvements we are making is already good to go – our . We

have worked with our new supplier, Smiths, to have different PE tops for the

different houses. This will make it far easier to split the children into groups for PE,

certain topic work, competitions and throughout the school. Whilst Yellow

Sycamore tops will not change from the original yellow, the other houses (Red

Hollies, Blue Oaks, Orange Willow and Green Chestnuts) will now have their own

house top. These should be available to buy in the coming week. So… please ask

your child which house they are in. The tops are the same price as the normal yellow

ones. Shorts remain the same as before!

ended their “Holiday” topic with a fantastic trip to the seaside. As well as having time to play and enjoy the

sea, the children were given challenges to complete which included measuring water, counting boats and an intense

sandcastle building competition! The children had a fun filled day with the highlight of the day of course being

lunchtime and ice cream! was extremely impressed with the impeccable behaviour shown by the

children and told me how well they represented our school. What a lovely end to the year!

have been working with a Poet for a number of weeks as part of the

Enfield Town Schools’ Partnership . The workshops

culminated in a wonderful performance evening at the Dugdale Centre,

where a group from our school performed in front of many other children

and their parents. Well done everyone and thank you to for

organising!

It never fails to be the most intense moment of the school calendar…The was a

huge success again! The concentration, precision, careful considerations and gasps of awe

from the children and adults in the audience were just incredible. We were very proud of all

of our contestants, with the winner spelling a word from the GCSE curriculum! We have loved

the Arts Trophy Competitions – a huge thank you to and who

organised them all and are busy planning for next year already! Also a big thank you to

from the Rotary, and – last year’s champion - who came along as a judge and

presented the certificates and trophy!

If you have been in to the school this week, you may well

have seen the up and

running. We are really chuffed with our new toys – the

sound quality is much better and easier to use – no more

fiddling around with the microphones now Mrs Munt – and

the lighting really makes a wonderful difference. The

contributions at all of our concerts and productions have

helped to pay for this wonderful upgrade, so thank you

everyone who gave so generously – it is much appreciated!

What a fantastic day had at the Enfield Schools’ Folk Festival on Thursday. The children performed their

Sheffield Garland dance to a number of other schools, managing to remember all of the correct steps. What a

success! The festival culminated in a well-known group dance entitled ‘The Pat-A-Cake Polka’ which the class enjoyed

with all of the other children. All in all Year 2 had a great day and danced all the way back to school.

To end the IPC unit on fashion, printed their own t-shirts. They first created a design and then made a stencil.

This looked very tricky to do but Year 3 were great at this. Once they were happy with their stencil, the children

rolled printing ink onto their t-shirts. This also looked incredibly hard but Year 3 are such great artists. Check out

some of their designs. Thank you again to all the parents who have supported the children's learning by providing

them with what they needed to complete this activity.

have been learning about road safety this week. The children painted their own Zebra crossing and went to

the traffic lights outside school to look at how they change colours and when it’s safe to cross. They also had a visit

from P.C. Jenn in her uniform who reinforced the children’s road safety learning. They tried on hats and jackets that

she brought with her and listened to her radio. She then took the children’s fingerprints…. Just in case!!

Ending on another fabulous high… here are our children at their

‘ ’. Haven’t they come so far? Now they are ready for

Year 1 and looking forward to their new challenge. A big thank you to

, , , , and all of the

staff and parents who have helped to support our lovely little ones

throughout the year

had an amazing trip into London on the 10th of July and they witnessed a very

impressive moment in history, up close! The day started with a journey into town on the

overground, then the underground and then docklands light railway, which took them all

the way to the Cutty Sark in Greenwich. A short snack and then onto Greenwich market,

where they were offered some free fudge by some very generous young entrepreneurs!

Year 5 then set off up the Thames on a clipper boat, before jumping off to see the fly

over. They were right underneath the flight path of the procession of planes and the

children were really excited by the whole event. They then braved the crowds and

marched over to Trafalgar square and enjoyed a well-deserved lunch break. Well done

Year 5 and what a moment to witness!

Our wonderful school continues to make us very proud. Not only have we just had in

Reception, Phonics, KS1 and KS2, but we go from strength to strength in our and .

Having won the inaugural Enfield Town Schools’ Partnership debating competition, our team have now

become winners of the first every ! Not only that, but our went one step better than the

England team and won the – well done boys and our very own Gareth Southgate,

and his trusted assistant, !

.

A prayer from Rev’d Ian Crofts:

Heavenly Father, We thank you for everything that has helped us to be fulfilled over the

past school year; we pray that over the holidays we will all find refreshment and deepen our friendships with our family and those

around us. Amen
