Connecting Math Concepts (CMC) is a comprehensive Direct Instruction (DI) mathematics program. CMC provides the explicit, systematic, intensive instruction that DI is known for. It works well as a tier 1 program in at-risk populations, and as effective instruction for tier 3 and special education students in grades K-3.

Connecting Math Concepts is based on the belief that understanding mathematics requires making connections: • Among related topics in mathematics. • Across daily instructional activities involving mathematics. • Between procedural and conceptual knowledge.

Connecting Math Concepts does more than expose students to connections. It helps them structure their thinking by stressing conceptual understanding of key ideas throughout the program.

Reinvent – Common Core State Standards • NCTM Focal Points and Common Core Standards are identified at the lesson level. • Complete level-specific correlations to the Focal Points and CCSS appear in the Teacher Presentation Books.
