• Maintainfinancialstandardsifutilizinganescrowaccount• Obtaincriminalbackgroundchecksoneachowneroradministrator• Maintaingeneralliabilityinsuranceandprofessionalliabilityinsurance• Conductfacetofaceinterviewswithallregistrycaregivers• Keepallcaregiverandclientinformationconfidential
Aregistryshouldprovidethecaregiverwith:
• Awrittencontractwiththeregistry• AwrittenexplanationofthecaregiversresponsibilitiesasanIndependentContractor• Awrittenexplanationofthecaregiverstaxresponsibilities• Awrittenexplanationthatthecaregiverisutilizingtheregistryasasourceforreferrals• Awrittenexplanationthatthecaregiverisresponsiblefortheirownprofitandloss
Aregistryshouldobtainthefollowingfromeachcaregiver:
• FormW‐9,reflectinganEIN,ratherthanaSSN• FormI‐9• Criminalbackgroundcheck• ExecutedFairCreditReportingActnotice/acknowledgement• ExecutedPCAStandardizedSelf‐EmploymentDisclosureStatement• Businessname• Businesscard,ifany• Representationsconcerningtoolsandequipmentthecaregiverusesinhis/herbusiness
AregistryshouldNOT
• IssueaW2tocaregiver;• Determinethescopeofdutiesorhowdutiesaretobeperformedbythecaregiver• Dictatehow,whenorwheretheworkistobedone• Providetrainingtothecaregiveronrequiredprocedures• Reimbursethecaregiverforexpenses• Offeranytypeofbenefitorinsurancetothecaregiver
