Location: Headland BeachAddress: Headland, Hartlepool Cleveland England UK.

Transport/ Access:Transport to this location is very easily done as this part of the beach is not commonly used allowing space to park along the front. This location is also a public place with can be a problem during filming however this allowed clear access to the location. The only problem with transport that is for this location is been able to keep the crew together and being able to move all the equipment that is needed on set close together so no equipment if left if needed.

Camera / Lighting:Camera positions of this location allow me to work with a range of different positions and angles to capture the action and the actors. And space for extra lighting has been thought about in this location. For the lighting, it was planned to use the natural lighting however if the weather presents itself with not very much light, there is room to apply extra lighting if needed. This was thought about during the visit to the location. This is also true of the camera positions and by working in one small location it will allow the equipment to be set in in a smaller area and will lower the amount of crew needed to secure the location. As location is also a public place with can be a problem during filming with the public on the beach and on the walkway.

Sound Issues:The main issue for the sound department in this location is the problem of the wind coming from the sea along with the sea front. This will cause serious problems for the audio during filming and the audio is needed might need to be re-recorded some of the dialog is needed due to the sound quality. This location is also a public place with can be a problem for the sound due to passing people and cars could cause problems with possible audio, however this location is planned to be used only for a short amount of time with very little audio. But for the larger scale of production the location will need to be used again within the storyline to explain more of the story.

Director Issues:This location is in a public place, which can be a problem for any part of the production mainly because the location will need to be cut off to the public for a small amount of time. Also with the threat of incoming tides there is a safety risk to the tide coming in when filming on the beach and possible escape route needs to be planned increase of that event. This will be worked with the health and safety officer and will be explained on site before filming.

Location: Car Type: Vauxhall Corsa

Transport/ Access:Access to the car is simple as the car belongs to one of the crew and actor allowed access to it during filming very easily. However the main problem with filming in a car is space and transport. As it is only a small car, there is only a small number of crew that can be in the car at any one moment. This limits the angle space the camera has.

Camera / Lighting:Camera and lighting in a vehicle is a major problem in a vehicle this size as there is little room to be able to set up extra lighting when on the move which most of the car scenes do which means the lighting must come naturally which leads it to an important fact that there is enough light to film. Also as having to film within a vehicle it was difficult to get the correct angles that were needed because of the space available however this will allow the camera to use a range of different angles to show the emotion but also give the audience little hints to what has happened.

Sound Issues:By filming in an enclosed place like inside a car, helps very much so with sound during filming as it cuts out the outside noise when recording allowing only the sound from inside the car. However when the car is needed to be turned on during a scene, the sound of the engine can be difficult to remove from the audio when editing. However sound can be picked up if anything moves past the car very closely, as the car will be parked on a public road during filming it will make it more likely that the audio could pick up the sound of any passing vehicles or foot traffic. To deal with this, I will be positioning a crew member outside the car to stop any foot traffic however closing this section of the road will be difficult as it is a public road with people’s homes on one side.

Director Issues:From a director’s point of view filming in a car in a public place has a list of problems that need to looked at before filming in this location. The main problem with filming in a car is the limited space given for the camera operators and sound crew. Also this small space limits the movement of the actors in the car and also limits to what the audience can see of the character depending on where the camera is positioned. As this limits the movement of the actors, choosing the correct people for the roles who can send out the correct emotions in the moment by only using their face and upper half of their body. This means casting the character correctly is very important in showing the characters at that moment in time. Also the driver of the car that is being used must be legal and roadworthy.

Location: Burn Valley Address: Burn Valley Hartlepool Cleveland

Transport/ Access:This location of the Burn Valley is accessible by the road that links in with the main road. To transport all the equipment needed for this location having the road that runs alongside this location helps very much so that everything is available during filming. Also for the shot, the car is needed to light the area setting with the friends past with this area and how they use the car’s lights to light the ground so they can talk and see each other mainly to make sure no one is listening to them. As this land is council owned the gates are closed at a time limiting the amount of time that we have to film and also with losing light it gives us only a small time to time before the light is completely gone. As the time that we are set to film, foot traffic will be very low but this is not confirmed completely.

Camera / Lighting:By working in a free handed camera during all these takes it allows the camera to move more smoothly during the takes and allows the action to be followed more closely for the audience. Also with the unlevelled grown using any type of tripod would cause the camera to capture a not level frame and with the time of filming light a small window it would be impractical to try to set a tripod up. With lighting, there was a problem. By filming at night the loss of light can cause the footage to become grainy and hard to see. With fading light the link between the car is made more connected when the car lights are used to light the area. A similar thing that the two friends have done before on the site linking a new possible flashback theme for the production.

Sound Issues:Because of the use of the car lights the engine noise is commonly heard in the scene however this is for a reason as this links the location to the car but also about how the friends have used the location before and they had used the car’s light to light up the area where they commonly go and drink. This also helps them see if anyone is watching them. The location itself is away from the road allowing the sound of the road not to contaminate the audio from filming. Also as the park is isolated it helps to keep the natural audio not to fully affect the audio of the production.

Director Issues:The problem with filming at night is that the footage can become more grainy so working out that problem is key to filming. Also by working with the link between the car and the location helps to explain how the three locations are linked. But with fading light it can cause problems with the footage but also the sound of the car engine can cause for the audio during filming. But with the violence in this scene can be dangerous to film with less light and the scene has to be planned very clear fully along with the dialog.

Location: Interview/Music RoomAddress: Hartlepool Sixth Form College

Transport/ Access:As the location is inside, it allows access to be limited from the public and other students also by working in a small room like this it allows me to make sure that we can film over a large space of time if needed to collect the footage without people coming in and filming having to stop. Filming within the college also allows transport not to be needed as the cast and crew will be there already and filming can be planned around the timetable of the college so foot traffic past the room can be limited.

Camera / Lighting:Having room around the table and the chairs allows the camera to move more freely around the action of the characters and allows the audience to see both point of view of the police officer and the suspect. By moving the camera it allows the audience to see the emotions and body languages of both actors in the scene showing that the truth is about to be shown which could cause heart ache and pain for all involved. But the main I will be facing with the camera is that the two actors would be there the same time due to college timetables. And that camera skills will play an important role in making the audience think that they are watching two actors in the same room at the same time. Lighting the room needed to be bright but also dull with no extra light needed expect the lights in the room. By keeping the lighting dull and not too bright it gives the scene of dread that the actor is feeling when in the interview room, dreading that the police know the truth.

Sound Issues:As this room is normally a music room it can be hard to limit the amount of sound from other rooms when filming however with signs placed the area letting the students around that filming is taking place. Also with this it will allows me to work around the larger noise by giving me time to speak to the actors about what they think about the moment that they are working on. Also foot traffic past the room could be a problem however this can be overlooked by stopping filming for five minutes as students move between their lessons giving the actors a break during filming.

Director Issues:The main problem due to filming in this location is that I cannot get both actors on set at the same time. However due to the fact that there will be no wide shot that captures both actors in the same frame. So editing is very important along with camera skills to allow the two actors to appear to be in the same room.
